Remotely Upgrading Zoom Rooms
If your devices are enrolled in Zoom Device Management (ZDM), you can upgrade the Zoom app, Operating System (OS), and firmware through the admin portal. Supported devices can also be downgraded.

Prerequisites for upgrading devices with ZDM
- Ownership or administrative privileges on the account
- For the ZDM devices
- Connected to Windows Zoom Room
- (logged in) or Mac Zoom Room
- Using Apple Business Manager
- With iPad Zoom Room controller:
- When enrolled in Apple Business Manager, it automatically enters “Supervised Mode”
- The App Store’s auto update feature is disabled
- And the device has no passcode
Notes:- In order to enroll a device running iOS 10.2 or earlier in a MDM solution with Apple DEP, the device must be running iOS 10.2.
- Windows devices can also receive system updates.
How to upgrade/downgrade the Zoom app with ZDM
Upgrading the Zoom App from Room Management

Upgrading the Zoom App from Device Management
- Log in to the Zoom website.
- Under Device Management, click Device List.
- Select Devices from the drop-down menu.
- Select Enrolled in ZDM under All Managed Devices, then follow these steps:
- Choose the device on which you want to install the update:
- To upgrade, click the up arrow next to the App version.
- Click Upgrade in the pop-up window that appears.
- Select the required devices from the following list if you wish to upgrade the App on several devices:
- Click Upgrade at the top right.
- Click Upgrade on the pop-up window that appears.
Note:
Using the Automatically Update App settings, you can automatically update the Zoom app on your device.
Downgrading the Zoom app from Room Management

Downgrading the Zoom app from Device Management
Note:
Currently, Zoom Room Controllers and Android devices cannot be downgraded.
- Access Zoom’s web portal by logging in.
- Under Device Management, click Device List.
- Select Devices from the list.
- Locate the computer where you want to downgrade the Zoom app.
- To downgrade an application, click the ellipse at the far right of your device.
- Click Downgrade after reviewing the release notes.
How to upgrade the OS/firmware from ZDM?
Upgrading the OS/firmware from Device Management
- Log in to Zoom.
- Navigate to the Device Management section of the navigation bar, then click the Device List link.
- The following steps should be followed if you wish to update the OS/firmware on one device: Select the device for which you wish to update:
- Click the ellipse at the far right of the device, then select Upgrade OS from the list of choices.
- Select the devices that need to be upgraded if you wish to upgrade the OS/firmware on multiple devices at the same time:
- Go to the Upgrade tab, then select the Platform OS option.
- You will then be presented with a dialog box asking you to confirm your choice.
Note:
The Automatically Update OS/Firmware setting can be enabled to automate the OS/firmware update.
How long does the update take?
Zoom Rooms need to be online, signed in, and not in meetings in order for the update to take effect.
