Remove Previews for Website Links in Webex
With the Pro Pack, you can prevent Webex from showing previews of the website links that your users share within Webex. In your organization, you can choose to remove previews for all employees or select a group of employees that you want to remove previews for.
In the case of Webex sharing link previews, Google Safe Browsing makes sure that the link has been verified by the company. It is also possible that the IP address of the computer is shared with the website, since Webex reads the metadata of the website to display in the preview. The user normally does this when they click links in an app, but it would be nice if you could prevent the app from doing this for them.
On Android, iPhone or iPad, the previews are enabled by default, but users can choose whether or not they wish to display them in their apps if they wish.
The previews are only shown when there is a link on the website to:
-
Include either https:// or http://.
-
Among the members of your organization, they are shared.
-
There are no more than 250 people in a space, so they are shared.
-
A Google Safe Browsing check is performed on these sites.
-
You should have a title for your site and the description should be at least ten words long.

Remove Previews for Website Links For Groups in Your Organization
When you select a specific Active Directory group for people to be a part of, you can prevent previews from appearing for their website links.
Before you begin
If you would like to use Cisco Directory Connector, you must deploy it and synchronize the groups in your Active Directory.
- You will find the groups in the Users section of Webex’s admin center, which is located at https://admin.webex.com.
- Click on the Settings button next to the group you would like to modify.
- Turn off Preview Shared Links by clicking the toggle button.
There is a possibility that a person may belong to more than one group, but if a restriction is selected in one or more of them, then that restriction will apply to the individual.
