Screen Layouts in the Cisco Webex Meetings Virtual Desktop App
In the Cisco Webex Meetings Virtual Desktop App, you have the option of changing the screen layout that you use.
Video Layouts in the Virtual Desktop App
Your default video layout when you join a meeting is set to Single view, which is the default when you join a meeting. A video layout can be changed when three or more participants are taking part in the meeting. It will be possible for you to switch between three different views of the video in a meeting if there are more than two participants:
-
Single view—An image of the speaker will be displayed in full-screen mode.
-
Overlay view—Provides a thumbnail video of the speaker and a full video of the other participants in the discussion.
-
Grid view—A maximum of 16 participants can be displayed simultaneously on the screen.
There are a variety of videos from the participants that have been arranged alphabetically by host, presenter, most recent speaker, and then by participants who sent videos.
Each of these video layouts has its own advantages and disadvantages that need to be considered. As long as there are active speakers in the meeting and a total of more than one participant, you will be able to change views at any time.
Virtual desktop apps can accommodate up to 200 participants at one time which is the maximum number that can connect to a meeting.
Single View in the Virtual Desktop App
In a single view, whoever is speaking is shown in full screen video. In a meeting between two people, the Single View is used to present the meeting only in the video format.
Overlay View in the Virtual Desktop App
It is the default layout in the Overlay view, in which you can see thumbnails of the speakers, as well as the person speaking in the primary video. However, the overlay view is designed to display the person speaking in the primary video. The thumbnail videos of the other participants can be viewed up to eight times.
A thumbnail video was created based on a number of factors such as the host and presenter roles, the most recent speaker, the person presenting the video, and alphabetical order based on who had just spoken. As the most recent speakers appear first, followed by the participants showing their videos, the participants who have spoken most recently appear second.
Grid View in the Virtual Desktop App
There are now 16 participants that can be viewed in grid view at once on the screen.
In order for the thumbnail videos to be sorted in alphabetical order, we require that we determine who is the host and who is the presenter, who has spoken most recently, who is presenting a video, and who is presenting the video. It is chronologically ordered by the most recent speaker. Then, those who have shown their videos appear, followed by the most recent speaker.
