Select the screen layout for recordings in meetings, webinars and events in webex
Your meeting, webinar, or event can be recorded with a screen layout that’s most comfortable for you. It is important to mix and match layouts from popular categories such as grid views, stage views, focused views, and focused content views if you want to provide users with the best experience.
A video-centric network-based MP4 recording can be created in Webex Meetings, Webex Webinars, and Webex Events if the recordings are recorded in the cloud and are video-centric.
The MP4 recording will not be saved in a video-centric format if you share a video during the meeting, webinar or event using the Share File function.
There is a requirement for version 2.0 of the Webex video platform in order to use this feature. The version number of your Webex Meetings is available under Find your version number of Webex Meetings. If the meeting, webinar, or event is recorded locally on the computer of the host, this feature will not be available for these recordings.
The new default setting for the screen layout that you make when you change it will take effect for all future recordings you make. Existing recordings do not have their layout changed by this program.
The default settings of Webex sites, unless your site administrator sets the defaults to something else, is that they automatically use Grid view when they are not sharing content, and Stage view when they are sharing content. The recording layout that you have set to your preference when recording is Focused content, regardless of whether you share or do not share the recording is still used as your default.
Screen layout options when not sharing content
An example of a grid view can be seen when no one is sharing content at the moment, and it shows the active speaker.
If there is no one sharing content on the stage, the active speaker appears in the main part of the screen when there is no content being shared. The top of the screen displays thumbnails of the video of the active speaker as well as thumbnails of up to four other participants. Syncing the stage and adding participants to it is not possible if the host or cohost is the one adding participants to it.
In focus view, the main part of the screen consists of a video of the active speaker if no one is sharing content at the moment. A host or cohost will have only the first participant appear on the screen if they sync their stage and add participants to it.
When no content is shared, the blank view will display a blank screen.
Screen layout options when sharing content
The stage view of the screen shows the content in its main area, and at the top of the screen there are thumbnails of the video recordings of the speaker who is active and up to four others who may be participating in the meeting.
With the focus content and active speaker views, you can see the main content on the screen as well as a thumbnail of the speaker in the upper right hand corner of the screen. When the host or co-host adds participants to their stage and syncs the stage with them, only the first participant appears on the stage.
Using the focused content view, you can see only the content that has been shared in the main area of the screen. It is not possible to record the video of the participant.
