Set office hours on a device in webex
When a device is set up for office hours, it can save energy and prolong the life of the screen.
When your device is set to let you control office hours, you can use the feature to control features that are always on, such as signage, outside of normal business hours. It is also possible to prevent the device from turning on just because there is motion in the room in order to prevent it from waking up.
A variety of configurations can be made on the device in Control Hub, via the local web interface of the device, or via the public API available through the device.
Switch the feature on or off
The feature is activated by default, so that the screen won’t be active all the time even though it is on all the time by default. There are not many screens on the market that are approved to be used 7 days a week, all day long. In some cases, it may result in a significant reduction in their lifespan.
It is possible to switch off the feature of office hours by configuring the following settings:
-
Time > OfficeHours > Enabled
-
True. If you want to define detailed behavior for the Office Hours configuration, you need to turn this feature on.
-
False. There is no use of the feature at the moment.
-
The device will never enter display off mode if standby control is switched off across the whole device (Standby > Control: Off), and the setting for the office hours won’t have any effect if standby control is altogether on.
Set the office hours
The default office hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 19:00 p.m. The hours of operation are set to Monday through Friday by default. The following configurations need to be set in order to specify different dates and times:
-
We work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during our normal working hours.
-
True. As part of the working week, this day is included.
-
False. As far as the working week is concerned, this day is not included.
-
-
WorkDay > Starting/End Time > Time > OfficeHours > OfficeHours > OfficeHours
-
Set the time of the start and end times of ordinary office hours (hh:mm) in the time zone.
-
Standby and wake-up behavior outside office hours
Outside of business hours, the device goes into idle mode about 5 minutes before it goes into standby mode (display off) so as to conserve energy. When the device is at these specified times, it will not be woken up by just sensing movement in a room during these hours. If someone starts to use the device, however, it will wake up immediately if they start to use it.
Change the behavior of the default configuration by using the following configurations:
-
Time > Office Hours > Outside Office Hours > Standby Time > Delay
-
When the device enters idle mode (outside of office hours), it must be in this mode for a period of time before it turns off the display automatically.
-
-
In the Time menu, you can choose Office hours, Outside hours, Standby and AutoWakeup.
-
Disabled. If any motion is detected outside of the working hours of the device, the display will remain in off mode.
-
Enabled. Any motion detected outside of the office hours will cause the device to wake up as usual.
