Set Webex Meetings as the Default for Video Conferencing in Google Calendar
In the coming months, Google Calendar’s default option for scheduling video meetings will no longer be Webex Meetings, starting November 16, 2020. By turning off Google Meet as the default provider, administrators are able to allow users to choose the video conferencing provider they wish to use each time, without having to set Webex Meetings as the default.
Turn off Google Meet as the default for Video Conferencing
Those in your organization who use Webex Meetings most often can disable the default setting for Meet in your organization if some need to use it occasionally. Afterwards, each user will be able to choose the video conferencing provider they prefer to use.
- Using your Google admin console, sign in to your account.
- Go to the Apps > G Suite > Calendar section from the admin console home page.
- In the Sharing settings, click the Video conferencing option.
- If Google is not already the default video conferencing provider, uncheck the box.
- You will be prompted to click Save.
Set Webex Meetings as the Default Video Conferencing Provider
Using Webex Meetings as the default video conferencing provider in your organization would be a great idea if everyone in the organization used it.
- Using your Google admin console, sign in to your account.
- If you are on the Home page of the Admin console, click on Apps > G Suite.
- When you click More options > Turn OFF for everyone next to Google Meet, you will see a list of options.
- It is highly recommended for all Google Workspace Marketplace users to install the Cisco Webex app for Cisco Webex.
- Go to the Apps > G Suite > Calendar section from the Admin console home page.
- To begin the video conferencing process, click on Sharing settings > Video conferencing.
- The checkbox next to Automatically add video calls to events created by users needs to be checked.
- Save the file by clicking on the Save button.
