Limitations of fax over Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
If you implement faxing over VoIP, you are aware that faxing has its own limitations. As a result of technological limitations and industry-wide norms, these limitations are industry-wide. For sending faxes over the Internet, Zoom and several other VoIP companies make use of the G.711 standard. Despite the fact that that standard is regarded as reliable by various providers, it cannot be maintained end-to-end because it is open to interpretation by different providers.
The Zoom fax over VoIP service allows you to connect a traditional fax machine to the Internet via an analog terminal adapter (ATA) connected to your computer via a network. Most of our business clients find these best-effort fax services to be cost-effective and more than adequate to meet their needs when it comes to occasional faxing on an occasional basis. To help you determine the right faxing solution for your business, we encourage you to assess your faxing needs.
Our aim at Zoom is to provide you with high-quality business services that meet the needs of your organization. We recommend that you maintain an analog line and a traditional fax machine for reliable and consistent faxing performance in the event that you are heavily dependent on faxing large, multi-page documents on a regular basis for your business.

How to use a template to apply fax settings to the device
If you are using an AudioCodes MP1288 or M500Li device and would like to apply fax settings to that device directly, you can use a provision template which is less prone to errors than applying those settings directly to the device.
-
If you already have a template for provisioning, you can amend it or create a new one.
-
The content of the text file needs to be copied, then pasted into the Template box to create the template.
Notes:-
For the parameters to be able to work, there must be a blank line between each section of the content provided, so please make sure that you copy the content exactly as provided.
-
The name of the coder group in the template can be changed from “AudioCoderGroups_1” (the name of the coder group) to “Fax” (the name of the Tel-Profile) depending on your preference.
-
-
Your AudioCodes MP1288 or M500Li device will automatically be assigned the template when you click on it.
-
It will automatically provision the device with the fax settings parameters from the provision template if the device is online at the time.
-
The assisted provisioning process can be followed from the web portal device page if the device is offline, and the device will be fully configured if the device is offline.
