Limitation of fax over Voice Internet Protocol (VOIP)
There are certain limitations when it comes to faxing when it comes to fax over VoIP services. The limitations mentioned above are based on technology and are common to all industries. In order to send faxes over the Internet, Zoom and several VoIP companies use the G.711 standard as a communication protocol. There is no doubt that the ISO standard is reliable, but it is still subject to interpretation by various providers as well as not being able to be maintained end-to-end.
Zoom offers a fax over VoIP service through the use of an analog terminal adapter (ATA) to connect a traditional fax machine to the Internet via the use of an analog terminal adapter. In terms of occasional faxing, many of our business customers find that these best-effort fax services are more than adequate to serve their needs and are cost-effective enough to be used on a regular basis. To make sure that the faxing option that is best for your business, we encourage you to assess your faxing requirements.
The Zoom team takes great care to make sure our services meet your business needs and are of the highest quality. For a consistent and reliable performance, we recommend that you maintain both an analog line with a traditional fax machine and an analog line if your business is highly dependent on frequently faxing large, multi-page documents.
