Slack Mobile security for Enterprise Grid
To ensure that sensitive business data remains secure in your Enterprise Grid organization, you can control which mobile devices can access Slack, plus how Slack can be used. To address the unique needs of different organizations, we offer the following options for mobile security:
- Integrate with an Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) provider.
- Use the Slack app for Intune Mobile App Management (MAM).
- Use Slack’s native mobile security features.

Native Security Features
For devices that aren’t managed by EMM, learn about Slack’s native mobile security features:
- Block file downloads and message copying.
- Require secondary authentication.
- Require a mandatory mobile browser.
- Block jailbroken or rooted devices.
- Require a minimum mobile app version.
Note: Some environments allow for a mix of managed and unmanaged devices, so you’re able to use both Slack for EMM and Slack’s native security options.
Enabling Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM)
To enable EMM for your organization, follow these steps:
- Choose an EMM provider: Connect with a Slack for EMM provider to learn more and set up your account.
- Turn on EMM: Contact Slack when you’re ready to activate or change the mobile security settings for your organization.
- Configure additional settings: Enable additional settings for managed mobile devices via key/value pairs in AppConfig.
What Members Can Expect
- If required, they’ll need to switch to the Slack for EMM app. Once installed, members can sign in using their single sign-on credentials.
- If required, they can’t access your org from an unmanaged device.
- If the Slack for EMM app is required, members using an unmanaged device will see a screen letting them know they’ll need to use an approved device.
