Tips and tricks for using audio with Webex Meetings Suite
Make use of this article to educate yourself on the participant limits that are associated with each Webex service, as well as the audio connection and muting choices, and the headsets that are supported by your Webex site.
Consider which service to use

The highest number of participants that Webex Support can accommodate is 1,000. Only those using Webex teleconferences or VoIP can connect to the auditory conference, which has a capacity of up to 500 participants.
Turn on entry and exit notifications
The beeps that you hear when other participants are entering or leaving a meeting are turned off by default, and the only users who have them turned on by default are those who use the Call-in or Call-me features. Please see the article on turning on entry and departure notifications in Webex Meetings for further information.
Connect to audio
Connect to the event’s audio using one of the following methods when participating in a conference, webinar, event, or training session.
Feature | Action |
---|---|
Call me at | You can choose any phone number, including your work or home phone, to receive a call for reliable and high-quality audio transmission. |
Call in | You can dial in from your phone by clicking on the link, which will take you to a collection of call-in numbers from around the world. Note the access code or meeting number, as well as the attendee ID, which is the link between your name in the conference and your audio. If you do not enter your attendee ID, your audio connection will display in the Participants list as a call-in user, which will be distinct from your name. Additionally, you will not be able to control the audio from within the application if this occurs. To participate in the meeting, dial one of the numbers that is made accessible to you, and when prompted, enter the access code or meeting number, as well as the attendee ID. If you do not have your attendee ID with you, press the number key to be directed to the lobby where you will have to wait until someone from the meeting allows you in. |
Use computer audio | If you do not have a toll-free number or if you would rather not use your phone, you can use the aural capabilities of your computer in conjunction with a headset. |
Connect to a Video System | To call in from video systems and applications, enter the address of your video system if it hasn’t already been populated automatically, and then select the Call button. This choice can only be made in the context of discussions. |
Mute or unmute yourself or others
In order to avoid distracting background noise during your meeting, webinar, event, or training exercise, make use of the mute and unmute capabilities. Depending on what your position is, you may be able to mute and unmute other participants, as well as yourself, and use the detection of background noise to choose who to mute.
Supported computer headsets
As long as the device has software for the operating system, Webex is compatible with virtually any type of headset that includes a microphone, including USB headsets. We strongly suggest that you use the versions provided by the following vendors:
-
Cisco
-
Jabra
-
Logitech
-
Plantronics
- Sennheiser
The overwhelming majority of the products that are put on the market by these manufacturers come equipped with mute controls, both on the headset and on the Participants panel in Webex Meetings and Webinars.
