TLS 1.2 Required in Cisco Webex Meetings
There will be no TLS 1.2 connections allowed in Cisco Webex Meetings from now on.
The Cisco Webex Video Platform system requirements can be found in the following document.
Microsoft Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer 10 is compatible with at least Windows 7 as the minimum operating system. The most important thing is to update your version of IE or Windows if you are on an older version.
Internet Explorer and a combination of the Windows OS version and Internet Explorer will not be able to connect after TLS 1.2 is enforced:
-
In order to connect, you will need to have IE11 installed on your Windows Vista, Windows XP or earlier OS.
-
Any Windows OS running IE7 or earlier will be unable to connect to the site.
-
In order to continue connecting to the web after the enforcement of TLS 1.2, IE10 on Windows 7 or 8 may need to be configured to enable TLS 1.2 in the browser settings. In order to enable TLS 1.2, you need to follow these steps:
-
Please navigate to Tools and select Internet Options. Then click the Advanced tab, and then choose a language.
-
To increase the level of security, uncheck SSL 3.0 and check TLS 1.2.
-
Once you have clicked Apply, you will be prompted to click OK.
Google Chrome
Webex Meetings are compatible with Google Chrome 65 as the minimum version supported for use. It is important that you update your version if you are still using one from an earlier release to avoid service interruptions. In the event that TLS 1.2 is enforced in Webex Meetings after the release of version 33 of Google Chrome, older versions will not be able to connect to the meeting.
Mozilla Firefox
In order to use Webex Meetings, a minimum version of Firefox 52 is required. It is recommended that you update your operating system to a current version if you are still using an earlier version. There will be a restriction on connecting to Webex Meetings in Firefox versions earlier than 27 once TLS 1.2 is enforced.
Microsoft Edge
Despite the fact that Microsoft Edge is no longer compatible with TLS 1.2, users can still use this browser to start and participate in Webex meetings after August 3, 2018.
Java
For those using Java versions 6 or 7, the Java Control Panel must be configured manually to enable TLS 1.2:
-
The Java Control Panel can be accessed from the Start Menu in Windows.
-
Click on the Advanced tab at the top of the page.
-
Choose the Use TLS 1.2 box by scrolling down and clicking on it.
There is already an option to enable this setting in Java version 8.
Android and iOS
With Cisco Webex Meetings for Android and iOS, you can join meetings with no interruptions, no matter where you are.
Cisco Webex Web Application
If you are logging into Webex from the Web app, you will be able to use the same browser support.
XML and URL APIs
It is mandatory for applications to use TLS 1.2 when calling the Cisco Webex API. Upon the implementation of TLS 1.2, applications that use protocols lower than TLS 1.2 will be unable to connect to Webex Meetings in the future.
Cisco Directory Connector
Before Cisco starts enforcing TLS 1.2 connections for users that are using Cisco Directory Connector, you must upgrade your Cisco Directory Connector version to 3.0 if you are using Cisco Directory Connector to sync your users. The Cisco Directory Connector versions prior to 3.0 will not be able to be used once TLS 1.2 enforcement begins. Cisco Webex Teams will not be able to provision and deprovision users if you do not upgrade the version of Cisco Webex Teams. It is required that you have a version 4.5 or later of Microsoft’s .NET Framework in order to run Cisco Directory Connector 3.0. Ensure your Windows Operating System or Virtual Machine also has a version 4.5 or later of Microsoft’s .NET Framework installed as well.
