Troubleshooting screen flicker when screen sharing In Zoom App
When your screen flickers black during a meeting, follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem.
Note: On a Windows or Linux device, follow the troubleshooting steps for black screen during screen sharing if you run into a black screen during screen sharing.
Prerequisites for troubleshooting screen flicker when screen sharing
- Zoom desktop client for Windows, 5.7.6 or higher

Uninstall and reinstall Zoom
- To uninstall Zoom completely, run CleanZoom.
By using the clean uninstaller, you will completely remove both the Zoom client and the Zoom plugin for Outlook. Chrome/Firefox extensions, the Outlook add-in, and the GSuite add-on are not affected by this update. - Download and install the 64-bit Zoom client for meetings from the download center.
- Install Zoom on your computer, start a screen-sharing meeting, and see if the problem persists.
Modify the Video Rendering Method
Change the Video Rendering Method in the Zoom desktop client if the issue persists after uninstalling and reinstalling Zoom.
- Zoom’s desktop client can be accessed by logging in.
- From your profile picture, select Settings.
- Select Video.
- Select Advanced.
- Choose Direct3D11 from the list of Video Rendering Methods.
- If the screen share does not work, restart your computer.
- In advanced video settings, select Direct3D9 from the Video Rendering Method drop-down list.
Manage Share Screen settings
- Log in to the Zoom desktop client.
- Click your profile picture, then select Settings.
- Scroll down and click Share Screen.
- Check the Show my Zoom window to other screen sharing participants box under Window size when screen sharing. Skip this step if it is not feasible due to security reasons.
- Select Advanced.
- Uncheck Use TCP connection for screen sharing.
Use UDP instead. - Deselect the Screen sharing check box under Use hardware acceleration for.
- Exit Settings and try sharing a screen again.
- Choose the checkbox for Video Clip Optimization when starting screen sharing.
- You can reduce system resources by closing all unnecessary programs via Activity Monitor or Task Manager on your computer.
