Turn off your computer’s microphone when you’re not in a Webex Meeting

The desktop application for Webex Meetings makes use of the microphone on your computer in order to identify neighboring video devices. This automatic detection feature can be simply disabled, allowing you to avoid the desktop program from constantly using the microphone that is connected to your computer.

1 Log in to the Meetings desktop software, click, then select Preferences > Video system, and then uncheck the box. Find neighboring devices and connections automatically.

2 Simply turn on the setting once again when you are prepared to connect to a video device so that you can exchange material or connect to meetings.
