Turn On Silence Detection for an Analog Telephone Adapter in Webex
At the conclusion of an announcement, an overhead paging system will turn off the active line by determining that one of the following conditions has been met:
- A signal known as the Calling Party Control (CPC) that is played by an analog telephone adapter (ATA).
- The line is dead silent.
The ATA will, by default, play a CPC signal if there has been two seconds of stillness following the conclusion of an announcement. In the event that your paging system is unable to detect CPC, quiet detection can be configured in Cisco Webex Control Hub. After quiet detection has been configured, the ATA will wait for up to four minutes before starting to play CPC.
On the paging system itself, you’ll find the option to specify the necessary silence time. In this manner, the paging system will automatically hang up the call after determining that there has been silence for the allotted length of time. The paging system will not take any new announcements while it is set to run for the duration that has been configured.
1 Beginning in the customer view of https://admin.webex.com, navigate to the Devices section, and then pick an ATA device to use.
2 Within Settings, navigate to the Silence Detection section and turn the feature on using the toggle switch.
3 On the paging system, configure the desired silence duration and save the changes. For further information, please see the user manual that came with your paging system.
