Unable to Import Users, Error: Incorrect File Format. UserID is Required – Webex
- Unable to import users, Error: Incorrect file format. UserID is required.
- Site Administrator gets error importing users: Incorrect file format.
- UserID is required.Site Administrator unable to import .CSV list of users into site.
Cause:
The error message was generated as a result of an inconsistency between the encoding used on the Webex site and the encoding used on the.CSV document that was being utilized at the time. UTF-8 encoding needs to be used for any.CSV documents that are going to be uploaded to the Administration page of the Webex site.
Solution:
To create a .CSV document in UTF-8 format:
1 Start a new spreadsheet in your copy of Microsoft Excel.
2 Choose “Save As” from the File menu.
3 CSV (Comma Separated Values) (*.csv) should be selected as the format for the file.
4 You can save the file to any location you like.
5 Navigate to the.CSV file that you just saved on your computer.
6 Simply right-click the.CSV file, then pick Open with > Notepad from the context menu.
Choose Program… > Notepad > OK from the drop-down menu if you cannot find Notepad in the menu options.
7 In Notepad, go to the File menu and select Save As….
8 Choose UTF-8 from the drop-down menu located under Encoding.
9 Select the Save option.
The Site Administrator may follow these steps below to export a user list already in UTF-8 format:
1 Enter your credentials to access the Site Administration page. (Example: https://SITENAME.Webex.com/admin.php)
2 To import or export users, select User Management > Import/Export Users.
3 Click Export.
4 On the following page, click the OK button.
There will be a momentary delay before the import/export function resumes; at this time, it will not be possible to make any additional import/export requests. This procedure could take a few minutes, depending on how many people are now using the site and how it is being utilized. The Import/Export Users process will be finished when the site finishes processing the request, at which point the Site Administrator will receive an email from messenger@Webex.com stating that the process has been finished.
5 Again, go to the User Management menu and select the Import/Export Users option.
6 Simply follow the link:Download the exported CSV file, and when requested, click Save to store it.
