Understanding the attendee role in expo in zoom
There is a feature in Zoom Events called Expo that enables event organizers to set up a virtual exhibition which connects attendees with other exhibitors and booths, ensuring they have a chance to learn more about the products and services on offer.
It is possible for attendees to explore the expo floor virtually and network, just as they might do in person, if they were at the event. As you walk along the floor of the expo, you can interact with other attendees, check out product booths, and network with exhibitors.

Attendee frequently asked questions about expo
Do I need a special ticket or an invitation to enter the expo?
I would not. If the event has an expo enabled, that means that you will be able to access the expo as part of your registration for the event.
How come I don’t see the expo icon?
Your event may not be a conference in the traditional sense, but rather some other type of event. As of right now, only conferences support expos, and the organizers of those events must enable this feature if they want to implement it.
If the floor is at max capacity, will I be notified when there’s an open space?
There is not a notification system in place to notify you when a space becomes available. If you want to check whether you are able to enter the show, you would have to click the Expo tab periodically.
How do I chat with someone in expo?
A green ring will be around your avatar when you enable network connectivity, as well as a green heading within your virtual name tag indicating that you are Available to Network. There will be a gray ring around your avatar if you choose to disable networking, and a gray heading in your virtual nametag will indicate that you are unavailable to connect to the internet.
As long as the other user has a green ring around their avatar (to indicate that networking is enabled), you should be able to click on the Chat button in the user’s profile as long as they have the green ring. You can initiate a chat session with another party by clicking on the Chat button and sending them a chat request. It is possible for you to request to talk to other Attendees, Sponsors, Guest Speakers, exhibitors, Booth Representatives, etc., during the Conference. It is important to keep in mind that you will not be able to see the Chat button on the profile of the other user if they have a gray ring around their avatar (networking is off).
How do I navigate around the expo floor?
Using a mouse or keyboard is the easiest way to navigate around the expo. If you click on a location or direction that you wish to go in, your avatar will move towards that location or direction. Avatars can also be moved by using the arrow keys on the keyboard. There are several ways to zoom in and out of the expo floor, including the mouse wheel, mouse pad, trackpad for zooming (2-finger pinch), and +/- keys.
When are other avatars visible to me?
The avatar of your Attendee can always be viewed at any time, however, once you zoom in to the expo floor you will be able to see the avatars of other Attendees. If you would like to find nearby users or booths, you can use the Near Me feature to find them.
Who can see my virtual name tag information?
If you choose to make certain fields in your virtual name tag public, any user in expo will be able to view the information you provide if the field is publicly visible.
If I leave the expo and come back at a later date or time, what happens to my chat when I return after the expo has ended?
It is important to note that your 1:1 chats will remain in the chat list for the duration of the expo. As long as you are still chatting with the other user during the chat, you will be able to continue your chat conversation when you come back from leaving expo and returning to it. Leaving a chat message if the other user is not present and you leave it while they aren’t present will not be obvious to the other user, so the chat message will not be seen until the other user returns to the expo.
Will my 1:1 Chat with another user be saved for future events?
If you had a 1:1 chat with another participant at the event, it will be deleted 30 days after the event is over and will not appear at any future events.
Can I block another user from chatting with me?
Yes, I agree. In order to prevent other users from chatting with you, you can block them. It will be impossible for you to see the 1:1 chat between you and the other user if you block that user because you will no longer be able to see your 1:1 chat. You can block a user by opening up the chat list and clicking on the ellipses to the right of their name. In order to block a user from speaking with you, click Block Attendee to let them know you are blocking them.
Can I report a user in the 1:1 chat?
There is a possibility that you can report another user that you had a 1:1 chat with. The first thing you need to do is hover over the ellipsis next to the other user’s name in the 1:1 chat conversation. You can report a user by clicking the Report User button.
