Upgrade your Cisco Desk Camera to the latest firmware in webex
Before you can use your Cisco Desk Camera, you will need to update the firmware to the latest version.
We are always working on bringing new features to the site and improving the features that are already there. To make sure you receive the latest features and improvements, it is important to keep the camera firmware up-to-date. See the release notes for each firmware release for a list of the new features and enhancements that have been added:

As mentioned in the following sections, you can upgrade your camera by following any one of the methods listed in the following subsections. The Cisco Accessory Hub is a free application, which does not require the usage of any other applications in order to run successfully.
Upgrade the camera firmware with Cisco Accessory Hub
The Cisco Accessory Hub allows all of your cameras to be updated via your web browser via the Cisco Accessory Hub. You will be able to update your camera’s firmware and model number with the tool, as well as check whether there is a newer version of your firmware available. The tool will allow you to upgrade the firmware on your camera if one is available.
It is important to keep in mind the following points:

If you are using either a Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser, you will be able to access the Cisco Accessory Hub.

During the process of upgrading your camera, do not disconnect it from the computer.
Before you begin
The camera may also be used by other applications, so make sure you close them all.
- Make sure your computer is connected to your camera.
- In your web browser, you can access the Cisco Accessory Hub.
- Connect by clicking the Connect button.
Whenever you are asked if you would like to use the web camera, allow it to do so. As a result, the camera cannot be detected by the web browser otherwise.
- You will be prompted to select your camera in the list of devices, click Connect, and then select your camera.
- Please follow the instructions on the screen to complete the process.
- You will be notified of the completion of the upgrade when your camera reboots in about 30 seconds.
Upgrade the camera firmware with the camera app
When you start the app or reconnect the camera, Cisco Desk Camera checks for updates in order to make sure it is up-to-date. If you keep it open, it will also run updates checks on a regular basis.
A list of the updates that are available can be found under the Updates tab. When you see a number 1, it means that there is either a new version of the camera app or a new version of the camera firmware available. It is also possible for the camera app to be updated, as well as the firmware to be updated, when a number 2 appears.
By clicking on Check for Update in the Firmware section of the menu, you can manually check if there is new firmware available if you do not see an update available.
During the process of upgrading your camera, do not disconnect it from the computer.
Before you begin
The camera app should be installed on your phone, and you should close all other apps that use the camera on your phone.
- The Cisco Desk Camera application can be found in the App Store.
- Then click the Start Update button on the Updates tab on the left hand side of the screen.
- You will be notified of the completion of the upgrade when your camera reboots in about 30 seconds.
Upgrade the camera firmware on Webex App
In the Webex App, you will have the option to upgrade your camera once you are asked to do so. I suggest that you close the notification if it is not a good time for you to get started with the upgrade and you will be prompted again at a later time.
Before you begin
The camera may also be used by other applications, so make sure you close them all.
- To begin the upgrade process, click the Update button when prompted.
When your camera is being upgraded, make sure that it is connected.
- When the upgrade is complete, you will be prompted to click Done.
After the upgrade has been completed, the camera will restart automatically.
Manually upgrade the camera firmware
You are able to manually install a firmware file on your Cisco Desk Camera by using the Cisco Desk Camera app. An earlier version of this application can be installed using this option.
During the process of upgrading your camera, do not disconnect it from the computer.
Before you begin
The firmware file can be downloaded from the internet and saved to your local hard drive.
In the following links, you will find the firmware files that you need to download for your camera. Downloading is only possible if you are logged in.
- The Cisco Desk Camera application can be found in the App Store.
- Select the file from the Updates tab by clicking on the Select file button.
- By navigating to a file on your local drive, select the firmware file and click on the Open button.
In the event that you select the incorrect firmware file, you can remove it by clicking Remove and then selecting the correct one.
- If you would like to upgrade, click the Upgrade button.
- You will be notified of the completion of the upgrade when your camera reboots in about 30 seconds.
