Using the web-based Zoom Rooms controller
A Zoom Rooms administrator can remotely control Zoom Rooms using the web Zoom Rooms controller, so they may provide remote assistance, set up Zoom Rooms remotely, or even troubleshoot Zoom Rooms remotely. The web-based controller can be used for a number of purposes, including:
- Set up a new Zoom Room to test it out
- Out, or troubleshoot an issue with an existing Zoom Room
- When dealing with a problem during a conference call or meeting, support participants in troubleshooting the issue
This article covers:
- Limitations
- How to access the web-based controller
Prerequisites for using the web-based Zoom Rooms controller
- An API Plan, a Business Plan, or an Education Plan
- For Zoom Conference Rooms
- On Windows 5.3.0 or higher
- On MacOS 5.3.0
- Appliances: 5.3.0 or higher
- Ensure that the room you’d like to control is online (you can check the status on the web portal).
Note: The web-based Zoom Rooms controller is not supported.
Limitations
Use the web-based controller with these limitations in mind:
- In addition to being built on an older version of Zoom Rooms, the web-based controller may not have all of the latest features. This is because it had been designed to run on an older version of Zoom Rooms.
- A web-based controller can be used with Zoom Rooms. In other words, what you see in the web-based control panel isn’t an exact representation of what an existing control panel looks like when accessed remotely. You will not be able to see the same action replicated in the web-based meeting control if, for example, a participant taps on the physical controller to view the meeting list.
- The Zoom Room can be controlled remotely using the web-controller if it is in a meeting. Controls for in-meeting control, when used, will indicate the actual state of the controls on the physical controllers. It is, for instance, possible to muffle the microphone in a room and the physical controllers will also display that the microphone is muted.
- It is possible to remotely access most in-call controls when a Zoom Room is in a phone call using the web-based control panel.
- However, each Zoom Room can only have a single web-based control panel.
How to access the web-based controller
- Log in to Zoom.
- Select Room Management and Zoom Rooms from the navigation menu.
- You can also search by location by clicking one of the locations in the hierarchy.
