Using Virtual Background in a Zoom Room
While you are in a Zoom Room, you can set a virtual background, so that a video or image appears as your backdrop. Zoom can only distinguish you from your background using a green screen.

Prerequisites for using Virtual Background in a Zoom Room
- Windows: 4.6.0 (1193.1215) or later
- Mac: 4.6.0 (1696.1216)
- Green screen is required
- For the recommended setup and background image
How to enable Virtual Background for Zoom Rooms
Zoom Rooms can be enabled with virtual backgrounds by following these steps:
- Log in to the Zoom web portal as an administrator.
- Select Zoom Rooms from the navigation menu.
- Select Account Settings.
- Select Account Profile.
- To enable or disable the virtual background, click the toggle under Setup.
- Verify the change by clicking Enable or Disable in the verification dialog box.
- You can select the lock icon, click Lock, and confirm the setting to prevent any other users from changing this setting.
- The default library can also be expanded by clicking Upload Background.
This will open a window where you can add content. - Choose a file to upload from your computer by clicking Choose Files.
Images or videos can also be dragged and dropped on the pop-up window. - Select Add items.
Note:
When you only want to enable this feature for specific Zoom Rooms, you can use location hierarchy.
Enabling Virtual Background for Zoom Rooms during a meeting
In the web portal, you can turn on Virtual Background during a meeting if it is already enabled.
- To access the Zoom Room settings gear, tap the controller’s gear icon while in a meeting.
- Choose your desired background by tapping the Virtual Background icon.
To make changes to this setting, you might need the Zoom Room Passcode. - The virtual background can be automatically adjusted by tapping Recalibrate (optional).
