Video layout options while screen sharing in zoom App
Overview
If you are screen sharing from a Mac or Windows device, the video of the other participants will appear on an adjustable video panel.
Otherwise, you can choose an alternative video layout.
Prerequisites
- Zoom Client for Mac or Windows
- The Gallery View Grid Panel can be adjusted in the Windows Client 4.5.3261.0825
Showing the Video Panel
- Join a meeting and share your screen.
- By default, the Participant Video Panel will appear, but if you don’t see it:
- Select More in the meeting controls.
- Select Show Video Panel.
Windows
Windows Screen Sharing Layouts
- Active Speaker View
- Gallery View Strip
- Gallery View Grid

- Hide Video Panel
Active Speaker View
Click the Active Speaker panel icon to view Participant’s video as a large Active Speaker panel.
Gallery View Strip
On the panel at the top, click the Film Strip icon to see participants in Gallery View.
Note: By default, the participants will be displayed in a vertical film strip, but if you drag the video panel to the top or bottom of your screen, they will appear in a horizontal film strip.
Gallery View Grid
In order for the Grid option to display, there must be a minimum of six participants (1 participant sharing and at least five viewers).
You can view the participants in an adjustable Grid by clicking the Grid icon.
Minimize Video Panel
By clicking the minimized icon, the Video Panel can be reduced to show only who is actively speaking.
Hide Video Panel
During the meeting, the video panel can also be hidden completely.
- To learn more about the meeting, click More.
- To hide the video panel, click Hide.

Active Speaker View
Click the large Active Speaker Panel icon to view Participant’s video as a large Active Speaker panel.
The smaller Active Speaker Panel can be viewed by clicking the smaller Active Speaker Panel icon.
Note: Both Options can be resized as well.
Gallery View
The 4×4 Grid icon is located at the top of the panel. Select it to access the Gallery View.
Note: As a default, the participants will be displayed in a vertical film strip, but if you drag the video panel to the top or bottom of the screen, they will be displayed horizontally instead.
Minimize Video Panel
Using the minimized icon, the Video Panel can be reduced to only show who is actively speaking.
Hide Video Panel
During a meeting, the Video Panel can be completely hidden.
- To do so, click More in the meeting controls.
- To hide the video panel, click Hide.
