Webex App | Tips for managing notifications
Depending on how you have your alerts set up, you will either be notified immediately or at a later time when you have new messages on the Webex App. You can prevent yourself from becoming overloaded with too much information by controlling the way in which you are told about what is happening in Webex App.
Focus on Important Spaces
You have the ability to set notifications in the Webex App in one of two ways: either for All Spaces or for Certain Spaces. Because of the way these settings interact with one another, you won’t miss anything and will always be aware of what’s going on in the world.
You most likely wish to be informed of communications that have been sent either directly to you or to the locations that you deem to be the most significant. Therefore, we strongly suggest that you configure these options so that you may better concentrate on them:
- If you set your notification choices to “@Mentions to me,” you will see fewer visual alerts and blue dots on your screen, which will make it easier for you to concentrate on messages that are addressed specifically to you.
- You will be better able to concentrate on the spaces that are significant to you if you change the notification options for all spaces to @Mentions to all.
If you require assistance configuring these options, please refer to the Set Notifications for All Spaces page.
- Change the notifications for specific locations (where it is really essential that you do not miss any messages) to read “All messages.”
If you need assistance configuring this, refer to the article entitled “Set Notifications for Certain Spaces.”
When you are using Webex App to share your screen or application while participating in a conference or meeting, the app will prevent notifications for incoming messages and calls from appearing on your screen.
Space sections
Maintain order and control across all of your spaces by dividing them up into distinct compartments. For instance, you can effortlessly drag & drop spaces into sections in order to group together relevant project work places. You can give your space list a more organized appearance by expanding and collapsing the sections. If you require assistance with the organization of your spaces, please go to the Webex App | Space sections.
Notification SettingsāOther Examples
We put together some examples in order to demonstrate how the notification settings interact with one another; however, you are free to combine these settings in any way that you see fit.
Because the Webex App supports smart notifications, it is possible to receive alerts and notifications outside of the app whenever you receive new messages. For further information on this topic, see Smart Notifications on Multiple Devices.

Spaces List, Filters, and Badge Counters
The number of unread spaces that correspond to the notification criteria that you have chosen is displayed in the Webex App app icon that is displayed on your device.
When you have unread messages in any of your spaces or teams, you will see counters appear next to the relevant section, such as Messaging or Teams. Your total number of unread messages is displayed as a number next to the word “Messaging.”
Your filters also display the number of unread spaces and messages in which someone has @mentioned you directly or @mentioned everyone in a space. These messages can be found in spaces where someone has mentioned everyone in the space.
Navigate to and pick the Notifications filter to see the places that have recently been active and match the criteria you’ve set for notifications.
A quick peek at the icons and text in your spaces list might also provide you with additional information regarding the messages that you are now seeing.
