Message notification sounds—Windows and Mac

Unlink the social network account you use to sign in—Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Android
There might be a reason you don’t want to sign in to Webex App using your social network account any longer. Using the Welcome screen of the app, you can quickly and easily switch from a social login to an email and password login, by unlinking your social account from the app.
Messaging in Webex
You can copy messages from Windows and Mac by clicking and dragging
In order to make copying multiple messages in a space easier, we have made some changes. The messaging area can be easily copied using keyboard shortcuts or the right-click menu by simply clicking and dragging your mouse over it. Messages can be copied and pasted in multiple places using the Webex App.
Calling in Webex Meeting
Depending on which calling features you are able to use, depending on the calling service your administrator has set up for you.
There are a number of features available with Unified CM, Webex Calling, and Calling hosted by a service provider that include
Find your phone number in one step, whether you are using a Windows PC, Mac, an iPhone, an iPad, or an Android device
The profile picture of your profile has been updated with your phone number. Under your email address, under your profile picture, you will find a box where you can choose your main phone number.
You have the option to choose your caller ID whether you are using Windows or a Mac
You can select a suitable caller ID from the list of call queues your administrator has assigned to you when you’re set up as a call center agent and make follow-up calls to customers.
Let Someone Else Control Your Computer—VDI
Is there anything we can do to help you troubleshoot your problem? It takes just a few minutes to share your screen via a call or by jumping into a space. Once you grant the person control over your computer, you can watch him or her move their mouse over the screen and see what they are doing. There is even the possibility that they will be able to move around your app using keyboard shortcuts. As soon as they’ve finished, you’re free to take back control of that at any time you want.
Meetings in Webex
In order to find out what’s new in the latest channel of Webex Meetings, you can see What’s New for the Latest Channel of Webex Meetings.
Using Webex App as well as your Service Provider’s subscription to Webex means that your meetings will always be full-featured. In order to learn more about what’s new in the latest channel of Webex Meetings, you can view What’s New in the Latest Channel of Webex Meetings.
Meetings associated with a space—Windows, Mac, Linux, VDI, iPhone, iPad, and Android
There have been improvements made to meetings associated with a space!
There is a new way for you to experience meetings in a space that we have enhanced. If you join or schedule a meeting within a space, you’ll now be able to take advantage of all the features you’ve already grown to love in Webex Meetings when you’re in the space. In the future, you will be able to leverage this new experience in every meeting you schedule or attend from now on.
You must have a Webex Meetings license or the free Basic Meetings license in order to schedule or start a meeting in a space. It is also necessary that you belong to the same company as the person who created the space. If you do not have a license, you will only be able to join meetings if you have a license.
As of right now, Webex for Government does not offer this enhanced experience.
Global menu on meetings tab—iPhone, iPad, and Android
A new global menu has been added to the Meetings tab of the Meetings page which allows you to start, join, and schedule meetings.
Calendar view uses preferred first day of week—Windows and Mac
There are two calendar views on the meetings tab that use the locale settings that you have set in your operating system for the first day of the week that you prefer.
Connect to your Google calendar—Windows and Mac
From the Webex App, you will be able to manage your meetings and events directly from your Google calendar. Connect your calendar to the Meetings settings in the app, and your meetings and events will appear under the Meetings tab when you connect your calendar to the Meetings settings. It is important to note that if the administrator of your organization has already set up your calendar, you will not be able to change it.
Share only what you want others to see—Windows, Mac, and VDI
In order to share only a specific window of an application rather than the whole application, you should choose the setting, Share an individual window only, and then select the window you want to share from the list.
Turn on “Share computer audio” in real time—Windows and Mac
When you share a file that contains audio, it is more convenient to share the audio from your computer. As you share content on your screen, you will now have the option to select Share computer audio from the share control bar that appears at the top of your screen.
Turn on “Show me in front of presentation” in real time—Windows and Mac
The video should be shown in front of your presentation as it is more convenient for you. When you share content with your colleagues, you will now see a share control bar at the top of your screen that allows you to choose between Show me in front of presentation and Show me behind presentation.
Raise your hand in a meeting easily—Windows and Mac
A new icon has been added to the meeting controls that allows you to raise your hand during a meeting. I especially like the fact that it is located right next to Reactions, so it’s now easier to raise your hand in a meeting when you need to ask a question.
Enhanced scheduling of meetings associated with a space—Windows and Mac
A new feature has been added to the scheduling of full-featured meetings associated with a space – advanced settings have been made available. The password that is used for a meeting can now also be modified.
There is now a default setting for the cohost, Let me choose the cohost for this meeting, which will now select it by default. Whenever you hover over the name of an invitee and click > Remove cohost, the invitee is automatically assigned the role of a cohost for that space, but you can also remove the role of cohost for any of the invitees.
Always see your preferred video layout when someone shares content—Windows and Mac
It will remember your preference in the app if you change your video layout from a side-by-side layout to a side-by-side layout so that you can see more of the content that is being shared during a meeting. There is no longer a need for you to change to a side-by-side plan when someone shares content during a meeting every time you start or join it.
Shared content in stage view is now larger—Windows and Mac
There has been a change in the appearance of the shared content in meetings, where the shared content is now larger, and the speaker’s video is now smaller. Typically, there is a 70-30 ratio between shared content and speaker videos, but it may vary depending on how big your screen is and how many speakers are on stage at the same time.
Mute or unmute yourself right from the taskbar—Windows
A microphone icon can be found in the taskbar of your Windows computer during a meeting. When you click on it, you will be given the option of muting or unmuting yourself. During the meeting, you’ll always be able to access the icon as it will always be present.
Whiteboards now available in scheduled and Personal Room meetings—Linux
In-meeting whiteboards can be used to facilitate brainstorming, collaboration, and planning during the meeting. There is no limit to the number of whiteboards that can be started during a meeting. In a real-time meeting, every participant has access to the whiteboard, so everyone in the room can see and update it together.
Identify if a meeting participant is internal, external, or unverified—Linux
In the lobby of the meeting room, you can see the names of participants waiting outside in different categories, such as Internal (verified inside your organization), External (verified outside your organization) and Unverified (not signed in).
Express yourself without saying a word—Linux
In the course of a meeting, animated reactions can provide participants with an easy way to express themselves without having to speak. The clapping hands reaction is a way to cheer on the speaker or to appreciate a joke with a haha reaction. During the presentation, ask the audience for a quick thumbs up or thumbs down, in order to get a sense of their response.
Maximize what you see when content is shared—Linux
The thumbnail videos of the participants can be viewed in a floating panel that can be moved around in order to not obscure the information that is being shared by the participants. You can choose between grid view, active speaker view, or minimization of the floating panel based on your preference.
Maximize your view when someone’s sharing content—Linux
There has been an enhancement to the floating panel which shows the videos of meeting participants when you are viewing shared content in full-screen view that lets you resize it to fit your screen. You can reduce the size of the panel so that you can see more of the shared content. To see more of the participants in the meeting, make the panel bigger so that you can see more of them.
Hosts can set a stage view for all meeting participants—VDI
Whenever you join a meeting that has full-features and the host syncs the speaker’s stage with everyone else in the meeting, you and each other will notice what the host is focusing on, such as who is the active speaker and if any participants have been moved to the front of the meeting.
See more in thumbnail videos—Linux
To the left of the name label, there is an audio indicator that indicates whether the participant is muted or unmuted.
To avoid covering up the participant’s face in thumbnail videos, name labels have been aligned to the lower left of the thumbnail, as well as having a more transparent background and sizing that is reduced to avoid covering up their faces.
All the world’s a stage—Linux and VDI
Depending on whether you are using the stack or side-by-side layout, you can customize your video layout. Using the filmstrip, drag a video onto the stage so you can see the participant from a closer angle. Ensure that you place people who are actively speaking right next to the content that you are sharing, or make sure you keep people who are not actively speaking in view as well, such as a sign-language interpreter.
By moving to the stage, you are able to resize your layout so that you can focus on the shared content or the other participants.
Choose the skin tone for your reactions—Linux
You can select which skin tone you would like to use for reactions using hand emojis, such as thumbs up, based on your preference.
Set the default for your self view—VDI
Your self view can be hidden or shown depending on your preference. You can also decide where your self view will appear on your screen.
In the event that you prefer not to look at yourself, you can hide your self view.
The first thing you need to do is share your self-view with other members of the meeting if you want to feel included.
The floating window can also be used when you would like more space on your screen to display other people or content shared by others while still being able to view yourself.
We’ve made it more intuitive to join a meeting—Linux
Enhancements to the Join Meeting window make it easier to see if you are still outside the meeting when you are trying to enter it. As soon as you join the meeting, you will see a visual change conveying which audio options you have.
Having a connection to a device makes it easy for you to see what your camera options are, how to upload or change your virtual background, and how to make changes to your camera settings.
Preview of shared content—Linux
The preview of the content is now displayed when you are sharing a piece of content. The advantage of this feature is that you can make sure you’re sharing only what you want, and that everyone in the meeting can see what you want to share.
Automatically start your video when you join a meeting—iPhone, iPad, and Android
As part of your meeting preparation, turn on your video every time you start a meeting so that you don’t have to start it every time you start a meeting. Choose the start my video option when I join the meeting under the meeting option.

Reply directly—iOS and Android

Turn off picture in picture when multitasking—iPhone and iPad
When you are multitasking and the meeting window is minimized, you have the option to show the floating mini window that appears when you’re multitasking.
Never miss an important notification during a meeting—Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Android
As a result, notifications will now appear on your screen in a consistent manner during a meeting and will not overlap each other. Whenever you receive a notification that you need to respond to, it appears in the center of your screen where it is much more visible for you. In the upper right of your screen, less important and information-only notifications will appear and will disappear after a few seconds if they are not urgent.
Choose how many participants to show in grid layout—Windows and Mac
In the grid, you can display up to 25 participants, 16, 9, 4, or one participant in proportion to how many people are in the meeting. There is a direct correlation between the size of the video and the number of participants you show.
Set the default for your self view—Windows and Mac
Your self view can be hidden or shown depending on your preference. You can also decide where your self view will appear on your screen.
If you are not comfortable with looking at yourself, you can hide the self-view.
The first thing you need to do is share your self-view with other members of the meeting if you want to feel included.

Messaging in Webex
Change the font size for messaging—Windows, Mac, and Linux
Your messages do not have to be strained in order for you to read them anymore. You can select a font size that suits your needs, so that you don’t miss a single detail. At any time, you are free to change it again by clicking on the Accessibility tab in your Settings on Windows (or the Preferences on Mac) and changing the settings as needed.
Find a quote in context—Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android
When you use a quote in a space, is there any context that can be added to the message? There is no need to search for the original quote, or to look for its associated reactions, or threads, all with one click of the mouse.
Reply directly—Windows, Mac and Linux
You might have felt hesitant to reply to a message in a busy space, or perhaps you might want to reply to a message from a space that is for announcements. In a direct message, you can now reply to a message that the author originally sent you by quoting it in your reply.
Be selective about what you share—VDI
Sharing content, presenting content, or troubleshooting a problem are all much easier with more options at your disposal:
Apps that you would like to share
You can switch from one application to another without having to stop sharing data between them.
Add annotations to what you share in order to make it easier to understand.
You can share your computer’s audio if you are sharing a video.
It is important for others to see what you are sharing with a high frame rate (FPS).
Calling in Webex Meeting
Which calling features you are allowed to use depend on the calling service that has been set up for you by your administrator.
Unified Communication Manager, Webex Calling, and Calling hosted by a Service Provider are all included in the following feature set
Know who’s calling you—VDI
Your Caller ID and your call history will display the name of someone in your organization’s directory when they call you rather than just their phone number when they call you. You will be able to decide whether or not to answer certain calls based on this information.
Calls made via Webex and calls made via a service provider are subject to the following features:
Remove background noise on the remote end of a phone call—Windows and Mac
As long as your partner is not using the Webex App and is in a loud environment such as an airport or a cafe and you are on a phone call with them, you should not find it problematic at all. The only thing you have to do during your call is to suppress the remote noise.
Fewer clicks to get to your call queues—Windows and Mac
Our call queues have been redesigned to make it easier for you to access them. You can now change your call queue status or join or unjoin a call queue all from the footer of your app, instead of having to navigate to the profile picture to change your call queue status or to join or unjoin a call queue. If your administrator has made you a member of any queues, you can change the status of their queues as well as join or unjoin any queues they have made you a member of.
Unified CM has the following feature that can be used
Bring work home with you—VDI
Whenever you are connected to your work network, you are already able to make calls from an alternate device. There is no longer a need for that network connection to be made. When you’re not connected to your work network, you can make a call from your desk phone, mobile phone, or home phone at home. There are even some features you can use on your phone, such as the ability to transfer, hold, and resume a call while on hold.
There are a number of features that are available with Call on Webex
Be selective about what you share—VDI
The following options are available to you when you are sharing content, creating presentations and troubleshooting issues:
Apps that you would like to share
It is possible to switch between one application and another without having to stop sharing.
Add annotations to what you share in order to make it easier to understand.
It is possible to share the audio track on your computer if you are sharing a video.
There is a high frame rate (FPS) when you share what you’re doing with others.
Meetings In Webex
Focus on the individual, instead of their surroundings, during a meeting—Windows and Mac
We are in the process of testing this feature.
The grid layout has recently been updated to include a new feature called people focus, which gives you an improved face-to-face experience with the people with whom you’re meeting.
You will be able to focus on each person’s face regardless of its position in front of your camera. This is because the app automatically adjusts so that each person’s face is what you will be able to see. There will be a sense of closerness between you both – as if you were there in person.
Seamlessly move your meeting to a video device—Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Android
I recommend that you take advantage of the video device in the conference room if you are starting or joining the meeting from your desktop or mobile device, but then walking into the room with the video device. In order to transfer your meeting from the regular device to the video device, you must not disrupt the meeting or disconnect it.
Right-to-left language support for Arabic and Hebrew in closed captions—Windows, Linux, Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Android
It is important to be aware that when you select Arabic or Hebrew for closed captions, both the closed captions box and captions and highlights panel will display text in right-to-left direction regardless of the language setting in Webex App.
It’s more convenient to see who’s recording a meeting—Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Android
Using the recording indicator, you can see when someone started, paused, or stopped recording the meeting, as well as who started it. There was a time when this information was displayed in the participants list.
It is possible to record the meeting on your computer if your host or cohost has this feature enabled.
Schedule a webinar from Webex App—Windows, Mac, and Linux
From the Meetings tab, you can schedule a webinar right away. In the Webex App settings, you can select the Webex site where you would like to schedule your webinar from, and you will be redirected to the site where you would be automatically signed in.
The Webex App will redirect you to the sign-in screen for the Webex site you have selected in the Webex App settings if you are already logged in to another Webex site.
Webex App supports Center Stage, the camera feature from Apple—iPad
It would be helpful if you could turn on Center Stage so the camera automatically panned if you moved around during a meeting, so you and anyone who was with you would always be visible.
Depending on how you view your self-view video or settings on your iPad, you can either select Center Stage or turn it off.
We’ve made it more intuitive to join a meeting—VDI
Enhanced functionality has been added to the Join Meeting window so that it is clearer when you are not yet in the meeting. As soon as you join a meeting, you will be able to see what your audio options are on the screen.
Having a connection to a device makes it easy for you to see what your camera options are, how to upload or change your virtual background, and how to make changes to your camera settings.
All the world’s a stage—VDI
Depending on whether you are using the stack or side-by-side layout, you can customize your video layout. To get a closer look at a participant, you can drag a video from the filmstrip on to the stage and then click on it. In order to ensure that the content that is being shared is clearly visible, it is best to place someone who is active right next to it or keep people whose participation is not active, such as a sign language interpreter, visible.
The move to stage feature allows you to resize your layout in order to focus on shared content or other participants as you wish.
Choose the skin tone for your reactions—VDI
You can select which skin tone you would like to use for reactions using hand emojis, such as thumbs up, based on your preference.

Concentrate on the things that matter – iPhones, iPads, and Android phones
The best thing you can do when you’re in the middle of a meeting or if you just want to get the job done without distractions is to silence your mobile ringer for incoming calls. Despite the fact that you won’t be able to hear incoming calls coming in, you’ll still get a visual notification so that you’ll be able to decide whether or not to answer.
