Webex Meetings Suite System Requirements
It is important for you to be familiar with the requirements for joining or hosting a meeting. There is a lot of information available about the minimum requirements for browsers and operating systems, email applications supported, and the languages supported as well.
The Webex Meetings Suite supports the following operating systems and browsers:
Supported Operating Systems
Windows
-
Windows Server 2008 64-bit
-
Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit
-
Windows 10
-
Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB
-
Windows 11
-
The Microsoft Surface Pro is compatible with the Windows operating system.
-
As part of the testing and certification process, each Webex Meetings monthly release is tested against the current preview of the monthly rollups as well as all semi-annual Windows 10 updates.
-
As far as Webex Meetings goes, it is supported on both Windows Server 2012 R2 and 2016. However, there is a limitation that, if a user does not have administrator privileges, then an administrator will be required to install the Webex Meetings applications and Productivity Tools if the user does not have administrator privileges.
Mac OS X
-
10.13
-
10.14
-
10.15
-
11.0 (Big Sur)
-
12.0 (Monterey)
-
In order for Webex Meetings to be FedRAMP-compliant, Mac OS 10.13 or higher is required.
-
The Mac OS X operating system does not include Java as part of the standard set of applications, starting with Mac OS X 10.7, and not since then. Webex Meetings used to require the Java browser plugin to download the meeting application for the first-time user, so for those users without Java installed, it was difficult for them to join a meeting. It is no longer dependent on Java. Once installed, the plugin handles the rest of the meeting app installation and begins the meeting.
-
On Safari 6.X and Safari 7, a problem occurs when you start or join an event for the first time. If you want to join or start an event from a website, Safari requires you to trust the plugin. This refreshes the page, but you can’t join. It is important to go back to the original link that you selected, in order to join. Once you have done this, you will be able to join successfully.

Webex Meetings web application is known to have the following issues and limitations for Linux users:
-
The video, call my computer, and content sharing features in Firefox may not work in some versions of Linux as users need to proactively install and activate the “OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc.” plugin in order for them to work.
-
Due to a problem with the WebRTC screen sharing API, it is not possible to share content with Linux versions that use Wayland as their display management system (such as Fedora 25 and later).
-
There is a problem with the H.264 codec in Fedora 28 that prevents the sending and receiving of video.
-
Currently, end-to-end encryption is not supported for Linux clients.
Chrome OS Support
Webex Meetings currently provides web-based meeting client support for the Chrome OS, as well as Android app support (downloadable meeting client support) for the Webex Meetings Web App (web-based meeting client support).

Meetings Virtual Desktop Software
Meetings provides an enhanced experience in Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments. When you attend meetings in a VDI environment, the Meetings software routes all audio and video streams directly between the thin client and the Meetings Cloud without going through the hosted desktop. The Meetings Desktop Virtual Software currently supports Citrix Virtual Desktop Environment and the support for VMware hosted environment is in early field trial.

Is 4gb RAM enough for Webex?
It is recommended that the computer be built around either an Intel CPU or a chip from the M1 family (4 GB of RAM is a minimum requirement). As a note of caution, there are some features of Webex Meetings or Personal Room Meetings that require additional system requirements in order to function properly.
Will Webex work on Windows 7?
As a minimum requirement for the Webex app to work correctly, Windows 10 and Mac OS 10.13 must be installed on your computer. You will not be able to use the app if you have Windows 7 installed on your computer.
Is Webex Windows 10 compatible?
We would like to remind you that the app does not support or work with pre-release or early release programs such as Apple Beta Software, Windows Insider Program, Google Android Beta, and any other similar programs. A Windows PC can run the following versions of Windows: Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, (classic view only), and 11. Updating your drivers is one of the most important things you can do.
Do I need special software for Webex?
It is necessary for you to install a WebEx extension on your computer in order to be able to take part in a WebEx session. There is no need to wait until the meeting starts to install the WebEx extension. In the future, as long as you are using the same computer and browser, you will not have to download it again for future sessions if you download it once for a specific browser.
