Webex | Record a meeting
In case someone cannot attend the meeting or if you want to refer back to what was discussed after the meeting, it is possible to record the meeting. There are two ways in which you can save your recordings, either to a cloud or to your computer as a local recording.
Meetings, webinars, and events can be recorded in two different ways. The recording method that is available to you depends on your account type and the configuration of your Webex site.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why can’t I record?
-
There is a possibility that you will not be the host of the meeting. The host of the meeting should be able to record the meeting if you have been invited to it. A cohost will assume the role of the host in the event that the host is not present and will be able to record the meeting. The original host will take over the role of the host once they join the group and have the ability to record as well. Recordings cannot be made by participants who have the role of cohost.
-
There may be a problem with your site’s recording space. You can make space by downloading or deleting recordings.

As of right now, free users are only able to record using the desktop app as part of their free account. The web app will not be able to record a meeting that is started from a Chromebook using the web app.
Can I save a recording in MP4 format?
In both the cloud and on your computer, recordings are saved either in an MP4 format or in the format of your choice.
There is no inclusion of the chat panel and participants panel in the recording if it is recorded to your computer. There is also no inclusion of any video files that are shared using Share File if it is recorded to your computer.
Where can I find my recording?
It is possible to keep all recordings of your meetings on your Webex site or on your local computer. The Webex site gives you the option of finding your recordings, sharing them, or downloading them.
I would recommend that you contact the host of your meeting if you were invited to attend or co-host the meeting in order to receive a copy of the recording.
How long does it take to get a recording?
It can take up to 24 hours for your recording to be received, depending on the size of the file and the bandwidth available. The number of remote workers taking part in COVID-19 around the world is unprecedented, so if you need to receive your recording sooner than usual, please expect that it will take longer than usual. In order to better manage the file size and to make viewing easier, it is a good idea to record more than one recording of a meeting, event or webinar that lasts many hours.
The recording will be ready in a few hours, and we will send you an email with all the information you need so that you can play and share it with your friends.
How do I play a recording?
As webex recordings are stored in the cloud in MP4 format, you won’t have to install new software to watch these recordings on most computers as they are stored in that format.
Please ask the host if you would like to receive the recording link and password if you attended or missed a meeting, webinar, or event.
Your Webex site will have the recording available for you to listen to or download if you were the host during the meeting.
Can I convert a recording to MP4?
The Advanced Recording Format (ARF) can be converted to the MPEG-4 format (.MP4) on a Windows computer by using a program called Windows Media Player. On a Mac, it is not possible to convert recordings.
