What is the Maximum Number of Participants in a Webex Session or Call?
The number of In-meeting participants as well as the audio capacity of the meeting can change depending on the program that you use.
- What is the maximum number of participants in a Webex session or call?
- How many participants can receive video in a Webex Event (Classic)?
- What is the minimum number of participants in a Cisco Webex Video call?
- How many participants can join an event using a video device?
- What is the capacity to receive video in a Webex Webinars (formerly Webex Events (New)?
Notes:
- If the session type in Site Admin has a number after the session name (for example, “Webex Meetings 25”), then the number represents the maximum number of attendees that can be accommodated for the session. In the event that this number is exceeded, either additional attendees will not be permitted to attend the conference or additional fees will be incurred due to the overage.
- When the maximum number of people who can participate in the audio portion of the teleconference has been achieved, attendees will hear the following error message when attempting to join the teleconference: “System error 4004: The conference you are attempting to join is full.”
- If a participant in a Webex meeting does not join the audio conference using the attendee ID, then that attendee will be considered as two participants for the purposes of the meeting.
- The number of people who are able to participate in an online Webex meeting is capped at 25 in the event that a meeting that was originally planned as an auditory only conference is upgraded to an online version of the meeting. For information, see: WBX79050 – Error: The meeting that you are attempting to attend has reached its maximum capacity of 25 people, and we are unable to accept any more attendees at this time.
Solution:It’s possible that the maximum capacity of attendees mentioned in this article won’t be met on your Webex site because it was configured differently. Your WebEx site’s configuration might or might not be set up to enable an overage of attendees.
The fees associated with going over your limit differ from one business model to the next. The actual number of users and ports that are made accessible to you will be determined by the service agreement that you initially signed up for.
The following is a list of the maximum amount of participants allowed in each service:
*Participant refers to everyone involved in the event, including the host, presenters, and moderators.
In- meeting video device:
Video Device Capacity | ||
Service | Video Platform 1 | Video Platform 2 |
Webex Meetings | 25 | 200 |
Webex Events (Classic) | NA | 200 (Host / Presenter / Panelist only) |
Webex Webinars (formerly Webex Events (New) | NA | 200 (Host / Presenter / Panelist only) |
Webex Events (New) Webcast Mode | NA | 200 (Host / Presenter / Panelist only) |
Note:
- The capability of video devices is counted toward the maximum number of in-meeting participants. For instance, if your Webex Meetings site is configured to permit 1,000 participants and 200 video devices to join, then 800 participants will be able to attend via PC, Mobile, or Teleconference.
- Only the first one thousand people who register for an Event on a site running Webex version 41.3 or a previous version can receive participant video. (Example: when turning on a webcam (or a video device) as a panelist, only the first 1000 participants can watch it.). This pertains to Cisco Webex Events that can have a maximum of three thousand attendees. Due to the removal of the 1000 participant cap, this requirement is no longer relevant for Webex Webinars (previously known as Webex Events (New)), which are supported by Webex versions 41.4 and earlier releases.
- Grid view is restricted to displaying no more than 6 simultaneous endpoint video sources and a total of 25 video streams at any given time. This restriction pertains exclusively to Video Platform 1, though.
Audio:
Note: *Cisco Webex Meetings, Webex Events, and Webex Training all support a maximum of one thousand people participating in a Webex Teleconference beginning with version 39.6 of Webex.
