DX, MX, and SX Series: Known and Resolved Issues in RoomOS 9
There is a possibility that some functions will not be accessible on all of the Webex-registered devices. You can use this article as a resource to determine whether features are supported by your device by reading it.
Hot-desking: Personal business line with Webex Calling
You may now receive a fully customized experience not only for meetings but also for calls when you are hot-desking thanks to this new feature. As soon as you log in, the device will immediately register itself with the Webex Calling directory number that has been allotted to you. The calling experience on the device can be completely customized. You are able to make and receive calls using your caller-id, and you can view the history of your calls in Recents just as if it were your own personal smartphone.
Accessible on every Desk Series device even while the Webex Calling service is being used.
Audio watermarking on devices in Webex meetings
Software version: RoomOS 11.4.1.8 c2c0e269f17
Audio watermarking is now available across all devices on Webex, allowing users to track down the origin of illegal recordings. When a host in an encrypted meeting permits audio watermarking, a one-of-a-kind identifier is placed in the audio that is received in order to identify a device that is responsible for the leak.
Zoom call controls on Board and Desk Series
Software version: RoomOS 11.4.1.8 c2c0e269f17
Both the Board and Desk series now include call controls so that Zoom meetings may be controlled. It is no longer necessary for you to remember DTMF codes in order to participate in a Zoom meeting. It is not necessary for you, as an administrator, to build and maintain macros in order to supply call controls for your users.
Join Webex Webinars as an attendee
Software version: RoomOS 11.4.1.8 c2c0e269f17
WebEx Webinars are now supported on devices, and users can participate in them as attendees or panelists. When entering as an attendee, the device joins the webinar but does not have the ability to communicate with the other participants or be promoted to a panelist role. When a user joins the panel, they are given full access to the device’s features.
Two joining methods:
- To access booked meeting rooms, use the OBTP (One Button To Push) system.
- To join a meeting using Webex, navigate to the home screen, tap the Webex button, and then enter the meeting ID and password.
Cable share pop-up
Software version: RoomOS 11.4.1.8 c2c0e269f17
You are given assistance in beginning the content sharing process by a new flow. When you connect a computer to the device through a cable, a little pop-up window will appear to direct you through the subsequent stages.
Visual updates
Software version: RoomOS 11.4.1.8 c2c0e269f17
We have updated the appearance of our user interfaces in order to provide you with an improved meeting experience.
- The Share menu makes the distinctions between the various inputs and buttons much clearer.
- Name-labels are now left-aligned.
When there are two screens on a device and one of them is inactive during a call, the other screen will now display a wallpaper that is more subdued and discreet.

Cisco Board Pro 55 and 75 with Microsoft Teams Rooms
Software version: RoomOS 11.3.1.16 f56233da7d5
With the Microsoft Teams Rooms program, it is possible to set up Cisco Board Pro models measuring either 55 or 75 inches in size. By default, users are provided with a comprehensive experience within Teams Rooms. Users of Cisco Teams can take use of the sophisticated, built-in device features available on the Cisco Board Pro, which help make meetings more inclusive and effective overall.
The Teams Admin Center and the new Teams Rooms Pro Management Portal are where all certified devices are handled for the organization.
Control Hub allows certified devices to be registered with and managed through the platform. Users are able to join Teams meetings and fully-featured Webex meetings back-to-back from the Teams Rooms home screen if the Board Pro is also registered to Control Hub. There is no requirement for users to reboot or adjust their device in order to take use of this functionality.
Hide non-video participants
Software version: RoomOS 11.3.1.10 1e761f985a1
Because of the new layout option, you now have the ability to conceal non-video participants from view. You are now able to view additional video participants regardless of when they initially entered the meeting.
Instant meetings
Software version: RoomOS 11.3.1.10 1e761f985a1
You won’t need a Webex account, and you won’t even have to use your calendar to plan the meetings you create. With instant meetings, you may stroll into a conference room with a shared device and start a meeting with the touch of a button. This is made possible by the instant meetings feature. After that, you will receive information about the meeting that you may then pass along to the other participants.
Room Navigator as a stand-alone device
Software version: RoomOS 11.3.1.10 1e761f985a1
In conference rooms that do not have a video conferencing system installed, you can utilize a Room Navigator as a standalone device instead. This ensures that all of the rooms, whether or not they contain a gadget, have the same quality of experience.
You are able to administer a Room Navigator as if it were a standalone device by registering it directly to Control Hub. As a standalone device, Room Navigator is capable of supporting third-party web apps, xAPIs for third-party integrations, and room booking.
Join upcoming calendar meetings early
Software version: RoomOS 11.3.1.10 1e761f985a1
On the future meetings list of the device, a Join button will be present for each and every meeting that is displayed. Users who require additional time to prepare for a meeting are given the opportunity to participate at any point during that day. The behavior of the OBTP will not be altered in any way by early join.
See chat notifications on your device
Software version: RoomOS 11.3.1.10 1e761f985a1
You will receive a chat notification if someone sends a message while you are in a meeting. The notice is displayed in the upper right-hand corner of the screen of the device. The meeting status indicator has a mute button that you can use to silence the notifications.
Accessible in Webex Meetings on Webex-registered devices as well as devices that are linked with Edge for Webex-Optimized Experience on Devices.
Low bandwidth notification
Software version: RoomOS 11.3.1.10 1e761f985a1
You will now receive a message whenever the network circumstances are not optimal, at which point Webex will cease sending video and instead replace it with profile pictures in an effort to save data.

Room USB is supported on RoomOS 11
Software version: RoomOS 11.2.1.5 dd101dc1279
The user interface of the Cisco Room USB has been updated to bring it in line with the style of our other collaboration devices.
Restyled UI extensions
Software version: RoomOS 11.2.1.5 dd101dc1279
We have brought the look of the UI extensions panel up to date so that it is consistent with the most recent style of the user interface.
Increased bandwidth for select Board, Desk, and Room Series devices
Software version: RoomOS 11.2.1.5 dd101dc1279
Because certain devices can now consume more bandwidth, the overall video quality has been increased over a broad spectrum of use cases. Any situation, such as having a device with two screens, exchanging content, or holding a meeting with more than two participants, could qualify as a use case. When people focus is utilized, increased bandwidth produces a discernible improvement in the user experience. Issues that are associated with network connectivity will have less of an effect on devices that have higher bandwidth thresholds.
It is the responsibility of the administrators to make this possible by adjusting the following configurations to the increased bit rate:
-
Conference MaxReceiveCallRate
-
Conference MaxTransmitCallRate
-
Conference DefaultCall Webex Rate (Applies only to Webex based calls and meetings)
Available on: Codec Pro, Board Pro, Webex Desk, Desk Mini, Desk Pro, Room 70 Single G2, Room 70 Dual G2, Room Bar, and Room Kit EQ.
January 16th, 2023
Software version: RoomOS 11.1.1.6 ab49a15fe2f
The default arrangement for meetings on the Webex Site may now be adjusted from Control Hub on RoomOS devices, and these devices will now follow it. Your users will have a consistent experience attending meetings when you choose a default layout. The setting is relevant for the layout of the people. The “Stack” layout is what is used by default whenever material is shared.
Support for Cisco Room Kit EQ
Software version: RoomOS 11.1.1.6 ab49a15fe2f
We are now able to provide support for the collaboration package known as the Cisco Room Kit EQ. The datasheet contains additional information on the product’s specifications.

You have the option to subscribe to this article in order to get notifications regarding any updates.
June 2023
Internal IP address range enforcement
Devices will no longer be able to access any internal IP address ranges other than the ones that we have described after the release scheduled for April 2023. Verify that the IP addresses being used by any peripheral devices, such as cameras, touch controllers, and so on, that are attached to the device’s additional Ethernet ports fall within the range of IP addresses that are documented for usage with the device.
Changes to Proxy Auto-Configuration (PAC)
We are making some adjustments to the way Proxy Auto-Configuration (PAC) matching is handled in the pacmanager software that is used in RoomOS. Up until this point, pacmanager has completed the matching with the use of standard regular expressions. We are in the process of modifying the shExpMatch function so that it will employ matching that is analogous to browsers. It is possible that PAC files that were created solely for RoomOS will require updating in order to continue functioning as intended.
Standby hours for Room Navigator
Standby hours for Room Navigators help save energy and safeguard the screen of the Room Navigators, which is activated for signage, booking, and wake-up on motion detection. Standby hours may be found in most modern hotels. The active hours are set by default to be between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., however these can be changed to meet the requirements of your organization.
Homescreen web widget
With the help of the Homescreen widget, it is possible to place any web content on the homescreen of a device running RoomOS. Widgets on the home screen can be used for branded messaging, business communications, or even user-defined workflows.
Use an additional screen with Board Pro
The HDMI Out port on the Board Pro Series allows you to attach a second monitor to your system.
The behavior can be set to:
-
Extend the meeting to both screens
-
Only extend presentation to the secondary monitor
-
Mirror
People presence accuracy improvement
The new accuracy improvements cut down on both false positives and false negatives when detecting the presence of individuals. The presence of people is taken into account, for instance, while calculating occupancy metrics in Control Hub’s Workspaces and on Room Navigator’s when it is set to room booking mode. The enhancements to the accuracy provide you with more trustworthy information regarding the utilization of your meeting spaces.
Accessible on devices operating in shared mode.
Chat notification settings
You have the ability to change the default setting for chat notifications on your device to something more to your liking. Choose between:
-
Focused for quiet mode
-
Preview to see all messages and text
-
Turn off completely
Available on personal mode devices.
Whiteboard improvements
We are introducing the ability to add text inside of a shape, with formatting options that are analogous to those found in free-form text areas. You also have access to the shape library, where you can select from a wider variety of shapes.
