Wired HDMI Screen Sharing with a capture device in zoom App
With wired HDMI screen sharing, you can share content from a laptop or mobile device to Zoom Rooms with just one cable. Zoom or a Zoom Room can communicate with local device content using an HDMI capture card. Alternatively, you can use wireless direct sharing, share.zoom.us, or Airplay to share content from your laptop or mobile device to a Zoom Room.
Note: If you share content through HDMI, annotations are not available. When annotation is needed, direct sharing should be used.
Prerequisites for wired HDMI screen sharing with a capture device
- Logitech Screen Share or Magewell USB-HDMI, Magewell DVI Plus, Inogeni 4k2USB3
- Inogeni Share2U and Osprey Capture, for example, are only camera sources
- A 16:9 capture mode has been added to the Magewell GEN1 firmware (the default is 16:10)
- Version 4.0x or higher of Zoom Rooms for macOS, PC/PC Touch
- If you need two capture cards, they must be from two different brands (e.g. Magewell and Logitech). One capture card can be used for content sharing at a time if two are used in the same room. Another card can be used for sharing a camera.
- For HDMI extension over Cat cabling, you can use Kramer TP-580T and TP-580R

How to use automatic HDMI sharing
Plugging your laptop into a video capture device connected to the Zoom Room automatically initiates wired HDMI sharing.
- The HDMI cable should be connected to the device’s video output.
- The other end of the HDMI cable should be connected to the capture device.
- The USB end of the capture device should be connected to the Zoom Room computer. When the active video signal is detected, your desktop will automatically be shared with the Zoom Room output
- if the video cable is plugged in.
How to enable manual HDMI sharing
You can disable automatic detection for HDMI sharing by selecting the manual HDMI sharing option for Zoom Rooms. This may be useful when a device is always connected, such as a dedicated/fixed content computer.
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as a role with access to Zoom Rooms.
- Click Room Management then Zoom Rooms.
- Find the Zoom Room you want to change and click Edit.
- Click the Meeting tab.
- Click the Start HDMI content share manually on controller toggle

- Log in to the Zoom web portal as a role that has access to Zoom Rooms.
- Select Zoom Rooms from the Room Management menu.
- Location hierarchy allows you to change this setting for a specific location or room. In Account Settings, you can change it for the entire account.
- Click the pencil icon in the Customize HDMI sharing label section.
- Enter a replacement label and click Save.
How to use manual HDMI sharing
- Tap Presentation on your Zoom Room controller to start a Zoom Room meeting.
- Connect the capture device to the Zoom Room and the HDMI cable to the HDMI port of the device from which you wish to share. Zoom TV will display your desktop screen at this point.
- To end HDMI screen sharing, unplug the HDMI cable.
How to use two HDMI capture cards
You will need a second HDMI capture device to support two HDMI capture cards. There will be one HDMI capture device and one camera. Choose your screen share device as the sharing camera by tapping Share Content on your Zoom Room controller.
