Wireless sharing with Miracast- Webex
If you enable Miracast® on your laptop, you will be able to send material wirelessly from your laptop to a Cisco Board, Desk, or Room Series device even if you do not have a client installed.
Miracast is able to set up a direct network connection between your laptop and the Cisco device by utilizing Wi-Fi Direct. This gives you the ability to wirelessly exchange material between the two devices. This works while you are in a call as well as outside of calls; to share while you are in a call, start the call first. Your Miracast session will be terminated if you make or receive a call while it is active, so avoid doing either.
The sharing capabilities of Miracast can be enabled or disabled by your system administrator. It is possible that, depending on the configuration, you will be able to turn it on or off manually on the device by navigating to the Settings menu and selecting Screen and Video > Miracast.
- Windows and Android smartphones both provide the sharing function. Your Administrator has to check the firewall settings and ensure that TCP port 7236 is open on all Windows devices before enabling Miracast.
- Google (Pixel) Android smartphones do not support Miracast.
Sharing originating from a Microsoft Windows device
To begin a Miracast sharing on a Windows device, follow these steps:
- On your portable computer, you can either hit Windows+K or click the Action Center icon, followed by the Connect button. Windows will search for Miracast receivers and detect any it finds.
- Simply select the device from the Board, Desk, or Room Series that you wish to cast to by clicking on it. The screen of the gadget will display a PIN in a moment.
- On your laptop, enter the PIN, and then click the Connect button.
- The act of sharing begins.
Simply reopen the Action Center > Connect list, choose the device that is linked to it, and then either change the Projection Mode or disconnect the device. For instance, if you wish to present slides on the device while keeping meeting notes just on the screen of your laptop, you would select the Extend option.
The act of sharing originating from an Android smartphone
To begin sharing content from an Android device using Miracast:
- To switch between Smart View and Dex on a Samsung device, go to the Settings menu and select either one. Take note that the name structure varies across different Android devices.
- Simply select the device from the Board, Desk, or Room Series that you wish to cast to by clicking on it. The screen of the gadget will display a PIN in a moment.
- On your Android device, enter the PIN that was given to you.
- The act of sharing begins.
