Instead of using physical buttons, the Cisco IP Phone 6821 Multiplatform Phones provide many of their functionalities via softkeys.
Your phone needs to be set up to connect to a call control system, which also requires it to be connected to a network. Depending on the call management system, the telephones can handle a wide variety of functions and capabilities. Because of the configuration that your administrator has chosen for your phone, it is possible that some of its features will not be accessible to you.
Some of the features that you add to your phone require a line button in order to function properly. However, each line button on your phone is only capable of supporting a single purpose (either a line, a fast dial, or a feature). If the line buttons on your phone are already being used, your phone will not display any more capabilities if they are available.
