Zoom Phone firmware resync and Auto Pulling
Keeping IP Phones up-to-date is accomplished either by Resync of the Zoom Web Portal or by Auto Polling/Pulling from the IP Phone.
A Resync is initiated by the Phone Administrator via the Zoom Web Portal by logging into the Zoom Account. The complete description of this method can be found here. Through the Resync method, the provisioning and firmware will be applied to the devices immediately after the provisioning and firmware are applied. As a result, it is suggested that specific phones be targeted or that this action be performed in batch so that the phone user is not adversely affected. In order to troubleshoot or configure devices with an immediate need for the update, Resync is a feature that should be viewed as an administration feature for troubleshooting.
Compared to the normal polling/pulling mechanism, the Auto Polling/Pulling mechanism is more passive in nature, as the devices will check (Poll/Pull) for updates on predefined dates/times specified by the manufacturer for every device. A new firmware version will be applied to the IP Phone if there are any changes in configuration and a new firmware version is available from the Zoom Phone service. Any changes that are made will be applied at that time by the IP Phone if any are made. By using this method, it ensures that a constant update of IP phone settings and software updates are applied to all IP phones on a constant basis, making sure they are always up to date. The polling is typically carried out when the devices are not in use (for example, weekends and after midnight) for guidance purposes, subject to change by the manufacturer of the device. There is no need to change the method of polling/pulling that Zoom Phone uses by default.
