Take films and still images with your Cisco Desk Camera by using the Cisco Desk Camera app on your compatible device.
Record a video with your Cisco Desk Camera
Using the Cisco Desk Camera app, you are able to record recordings of meetings or activities that are taking place on-site. The recordings are kept in the Media folder as AVI files for safekeeping.
When the shutter is closed, the recording will be stopped.
1. Launch the app for the Cisco Desk Camera.
2. Call up the video recording buttons by hovering your mouse above the image frame, then record your video after the buttons appear.
- To begin recording, click the Record button.
- To stop the recording, click the Pause button.
- To continue recording, click the Resume button.
- To stop the recording, click the Stop button.
To view the files you have recorded, navigate to the media folder by clicking the option labeled “media folder.”
Take a snapshot with your Cisco Desk Camera
To preserve still photographs, you can make use of the Snapshot function found within the Cisco Desk Camera app. The screenshots are stored in the Media folder as BMP files after being taken.
- Launch the app for the Cisco Desk Camera.
- If necessary, make changes to the parameters in order to get the best possible image.
- To capture a still image from the live video, click the snapshot button that is located below the video frame.
- To open the Media folder, which is where your photographs are stored, click the button that looks like a media folder.
Mute the microphones
Your camera’s mics will be active and recording by default. If you wish to capture something without any sound, you’ll need to mute your microphones.
If you intend to utilize your camera in conjunction with a meeting application, you will need to make sure that the settings for the meeting app are configured to use your camera as the audio channel. During a meeting, you have the ability to mute or unmute yourself by using the meeting app.
1. Launch the app for the Cisco Desk Camera.
2. To silence the audio, click the button located at the bottom of the video frame.
3. To start listening to the audio again, click the option labeled “unmute.”
Adjust the microphone volume
Make sure to adjust the level on your microphone before you begin shooting video. When the volume is muted, you will not be able to modify it.
If you are utilizing the microphones on the camera for meetings, you can alter the audio volume by using the option that adjusts the volume on your meeting app.
1. Launch the app for the Cisco Desk Camera.
2. Navigate to the option labeled “Microphone settings.”
3. Move the volume slider to the left to lower the volume or to the right to raise the volume.
Specify where to save your recordings and snapshots
You will have the option to select a spot on your local drive to save your recordings and photographs in. Your local drive’s Media folder will automatically become the destination for any media files you save there.
The path to the folder is different for different operating systems:
- Windows: C:\Users\<user_ID>\Documents\Cisco Camera\Media
- macOS: Macintosh HD:/Users/<user_ID>/Documents/Cisco Camera/Media
1. Launch the application for the Cisco Desk Camera.
2. Navigate to the Media tab and select the Change button located under the Media file location heading.
3. Navigate to the location of the desired folder and then click the Open button (for Windows) or Select Folder (for macOS).
