Cast PowerPoint to a Teams Room From Mobile Device
In just a few minutes, you can share a PowerPoint presentation with colleagues on a large screen using only your mobile device and a nearby Teams Room without even arranging a meeting with them. They will be able to see it on a large screen without having to even meet with you.
Before you begin
- On a mobile device, Teams must be installed as well as Bluetooth must be enabled on the device in order to work.
- Teams Rooms and the mobile device must both be connected to the Internet in order to work.
- There must be less than 10 metres (32.8 feet) of space between the room device and the mobile device.
Cast a PowerPoint presentation
In case your mobile device already has the presentation open on it, you can click here
- On the device, the PowerPoint presentation will be displayed above the Cast icon, which can be used to cast the presentation. Casting can be started by tapping the icon on the screen.
A list of nearby Teams Rooms will be displayed by the app after the app searches for them. It is recommended that you move closer to the devices on the map if you are experiencing difficulty seeing them on the map, or if you are unable to see them at all.
- Choose a Teams Room from the list of available Teams Rooms.
There will be a connection between the app and the Teams Room.
- Mobile devices allow you to control your presentation from wherever you are.
If the presentation isn’t open on your mobile device
- To cast a video in Teams, simply tap the Cast button in the navigation bar.
When you open Teams, you will have to tap More to be able to access the Cast app if you don’t see it right away.

There will be a search engine in the app that will find nearby Teams Rooms and then display a list of them. By moving closer to a Teams Rooms device, you will be able to see it more clearly if you are not able to see it at the moment.
- Select a Teams Room from the list of available Teams Rooms.
There will be a connection between the app and the Teams Room.
- You will need to tap the PowerPoint button in order to project it.

- Choose the PowerPoint presentation that you would like to project by finding it and tapping it. You will be able to view recent presentations that you have opened as well as presentations that you have stored in OneDrive.
- By tapping the arrows or swiping left and right, you can move through the presentation using your mobile device.
Multitask on your mobile device during the casting
As the PowerPoint presentation is being projected, you can also do other things while it is being projected, such as viewing Teams activity or responding to a chat message, if you desire.
Notes:
- As a result, you will not be able to join meetings, or switch to another Teams account while casting.
- The casting session may be terminated by answering a call while you are in the middle of it.
- Using the Back button on the device screen will allow you to access Teams or any other apps that are available.
The next time you wish to use an app, you have to tap the Back button until you can access it.
- Whenever you tap the PowerPoint PIP icon, you will be able to go back to wherever you left off in your PowerPoint presentation so you can continue where you left off.

Stop projecting
- There is an option to stop the presentation at the bottom of the screen by tapping on the icon that says Stop presenting.
