From anywhere in Microsoft Teams, you can start 1:1 or group calls.
Start calls
- A call can be started from a chat by selecting Audio call or Video call.
- You can reach someone by typing “/call” in the command box.
- Choose Audio call from a person’s contact card by hovering over their profile photo in Teams.
Dial an outside number
Note: Even if your organization does not use Teams, you can call anyone with a Business Voice or Enterprise Voice license.
- Select Calls.
- Any number – even if they aren’t using Teams – can be called using Dial a number.
View history and listen to voicemail
- View missed calls by selecting History.
- You can return someone’s call by selecting More actions > Call back after listening to a voicemail.

How do I make phone calls from Microsoft Teams?

How do I enable call option in Microsoft Teams?
It is on the left side of the screen where you find your profile picture and a list of settings that you can access. Click the Settings > Calls button when here. The section for Call answering rules allows you to select how you would like Teams to handle incoming calls. In case you wish to forward your calls to someone else, you can do so by selecting Forward my calls.
Can I dial a phone number from Teams?
You can dial the number of the person you wish to talk to by going to Team’s Calls menu and clicking Dial a number. Then you will need to type in the number of the person you wish to speak to. Why can’t I see the dial pad in Teams?
There are certain conditions that must be met in order for the dial pad to be visible: The user must be assigned a Teams license in order to see the dial pad. Currently, the user has a licensed license for the Teams Phone System (MCOEV). A user must have a Windows Phone 8.1 device, or have an installation of Microsoft Calling Plan, Operator Connect, or Windows Phone 8.1 to be able to use Direct Routing.
