Integrate Slido with Webex App
In Control Hub, once you have enabled Slido, you will immediately be able to create a Slido organization that will be linked to your existing Webex organization.
Overview
Slide is an easy-to-use tool that allows you to engage your audience. By bridging the gap between the speaker and the audience, it helps people get the most out of their meetings and makes them as productive as possible.
Slido can be integrated with your organization’s Control Hub system, so your users can add the Slido app to Webex App meetings when it has been integrated with your organization. Through this integration, you will be able to ask questions during the meeting, as well as vote.
Admins can enable Slide in the Control Hub as part of their administrative functions for Webex organizations.
-
During the course of this action, an organization in Slido is automatically created for you, and you are the owner of that organization.
-
There are no restrictions on the number of users or groups that can use the integration and it can apply to all of your meeting sites.
For more information about customizing the Slido experience for your users at slido.com, log in through your Webex account at slido.com.
How it works
For Webex administrators using Slido for the first time
From the Control Hub, as a Webex full administrator, you have the option of enabling Slido. Webex will automatically create your own Slido organization when you do that. As soon as you sign up for Webex, you become the owner of the account.
Users of all Webex sites in your organization will be able to access the Slido app once the app has been approved for use. You will be able to add new users to the Slido organization as soon as they click the Slido app from the Webex app.
As a result of this, we call it “on-demand provisioning” or “just-in-time provisioning” (JIT).
The token used to authenticate the user is provided by Webex when the user is created in Slido.
To manage your roles and configure your Slido organization, we suggest logging in to https://admin.sli.do/ so that you can manage your Slido account. In order to sign in to Slido, you will need to use your Webex account.
For users
Upon first use of Slido by a Webex meeting host, he/she will be automatically given a new Slido account when they use it for the first time. It is created in the Slido organization that is linked to your Webex account.
From the Webex app, the host is able to manage Slide interactions.
Slido hosts can use https://admin.sli.do/ to log in to Slido at any time during the meeting, whether they are preparing events or interactions, or accessing Slido data after the meeting has been completed. A user’s Webex credentials are required to sign in to Webex.
Slido events can be created and managed through https://community.sli.do/setting-up-and-running-slido-41, which guides users through the process of setting up and running Slido events.
For Webex administrators who already use Slido
Whether or not you already have a Slido organization, Webex will automatically create a second Slido organization when you enable Slido in the Control Hub.
When integrating with Webex for the first time, the integration works exactly as described above: the Webex account will be the owner of the Slido app in your organization’s Webex sites, so all users in all of those sites will have access to the Slido app. In your new Slido organization, users will automatically be added as new users when they click on the Slido app from the Webex app.
There is no limit to how many Slido organizations a user can belong to in Control Hub, unlike Webex organizations.
It is possible to work manually in your new Slido organization in order to merge your existing Slido users into it, together with their Slido content. To find out how to use this option, you must contact Slido support.
User management
Users
-
A Webex app user who uses the Slido app for the first time becomes a user in your Slido organization as soon as they use the Slido app for the first time. The users from your Webex organization have a subset of their identities in your Slido organization.
-
Users who are part of your Slido organization can log in directly to it. If they do, they must use their Webex accounts (“Log in with Webex”) and have already loaded Slido from the App panel in the Webex app.
-
After you delete users from your Webex organization, they cannot directly sign in to your Slido organization.
-
Please follow the normal procedure in your Webex organization for changing a user’s email address if it is necessary to change it. Your Slide organization will automatically be updated once the change has been made.
Identity, security, and compliance
-
Login with Webex is the only method of logging in to Slido for any organization that enforces it. Slido relies on Webex as a provider of identity for its services. As a result, Slido users who log in directly to Slido via Webex access controls (like SSO) are also subject to those controls.
-
The Control Hub is the interface that connects your Slido organization with your Webex organization. You can therefore see that the Webex authentication method (like the single sign on method) that you have configured in the Control Hub is what your users will need to use to access Slido.
-
Your Slido organization has been assigned a role called User to each of your users. Admin is a role that can be changed to give selected users a larger range of privileges, including access to all of the content created by all users within the organization, as well as provide them with the option to control their own content. Slido user roles can only be managed in the Slido account (not through the Control Hub) and there is no way to do so from there.
Admins of a Slido organization are able to see any content that is created by all users in their organization.
-
There are some basic differences between the organization, users, and content of your Slido and the organization, users, and content of your Webex platform.
Take a look at Slido Security’s website.
-
Read more about how Webex keeps your information secure and private on its website.
License management
Change of Slido license ownership
As the owner of a Slido license, you are free to transfer ownership at any time to another person. I recommend reading the following: https://community.sli.do/organization-settings-and-team-management-64/change-the-license-owner-475 for more information.
Webex Host licenses
You are entitled to create Slide accounts for all the hosts within your Webex organization. Webex meeting host licenses / entitlements can be managed in the Control Hub as part of the hosting process.
You can use a license assignment template to assign host licenses to users in order to assign host licenses to users. As a result, Webex users are now entitled to use Slide as part of the Webex experience.
In order to use Slido, you must have a license for each authorized host across all of your meeting sites. It is not possible to control each site individually. In addition to the host license, the users do not have any control over their own accounts.
License centralization
It is important to note that this section applies only to organizations that have previously used Slido with Webex.
If you want to optimize your Slido users and their content, it is strongly recommended that you centralize them. This will give you the following advantages:
-
In order to simplify the meeting host’s experience with Slido, we have made some changes.
The integrated Slido and Webex apps will only be available this way to users who want to use them.
-
In one place, you’ll be able to manage all of the Slido data that is important to your organization.
-
Slide settings can be enforced on a company-wide basis.
Your user content should be merged under the (Webex) Slido organization, and any associated user domains should be claimed by you as the owner of the content.
-
Read this article to learn how to restrict the sign-up process for domains connected to your company (Slido).
-
Check out Manage Your Domains (Webex article) for more information.
Data management
Retention
It can be found at http://help.webex.com/nlbihhs where you can read about Webex’s data retention policy.
In order to align your Slido content retention period with your Webex retention period, please contact support@slido.com to request a specific data retention period for your Slido content.
During the daily data retention job, Slido event details such as the DATE TO property are checked to determine whether the event data should be retained and if so, the retention period is added. As part of this job, all historical events in your account will be examined, including those that took place years ago.
Using the DATE TO as an example, if you set the retention period to 5 days, the event data will be deleted 40 days from today if the DATE TO is 35 days from today.
Protection
There is a Slido organization that only permits the use of Webex as a login method for users who create content through Webex in Slido.
Residency
By default, all Slido data is stored in a European datacenter, which is designed to ensure privacy and security. The Request US data residency (under the Configure section of this article) section tells you what you need to do if you want to host your data in a US data center.
-
The data that is currently held within your existing Slido organization that is based in Europe will not be moved to the new Slido organization that is based in the US. The data in Slido can be exported by users before they are deleted by us.
-
As part of the Slido subscription, there are additional limitations that apply to organizations based in the US (see Overview > Limitations for more information).
Security-related documentation
-
A privacy data sheet for Webex Meetings (PDF version; please refer to Addendum 5 for more information about Slido).
-
Using the Trust Portal, customers with Cisco accounts can access the security questionnaire on the Trust Portal.
Limitations
In order to get more information about the specific features that can be used with the polls and Q&A in Slido, please see Known Issues and Limitations.
General limitations
-
In the case of Webex for Government, integration with Slideo is not available.
-
Meetings in which encryption is implemented end-to-end are not supported by Slideo functionality.
-
Users must be created in a Control Hub organization or linked to an organization that uses Webex.
Site Admin managed sites do not have Slido available for meeting hosts, unless the site and users are linked with the Control Hub, and the control hub is the site administrator.
-
A web client user who is not subscribed to Webex will not be able to access any Slido features.
-
The authentication method used by Slido by default is the same as the one used by Control Hub. Users whose logins are managed by Site Administration, and who are managed by Control Hub, must use their SSO login credentials to access Slido when the organization uses both Site Administration and Control Hub. Control Hub organizations with SSO enabled will experience this.
-
A Webex meeting site login is required for hosts to host Slido interactions. Logging in to the meeting site hosting the meeting is required if they have more than one.
-
Up to 10,000 attendees can participate in Slideo polls or Q&As, while 5,000 participants can participate in Slideo quizzes. Please contact support@slido.com if you are interested in using Slido for a larger event.
-
Organizers with more than 1,000 users may experience issues with https://admin.sli.do’s Team page.
Additional limitations for organizations hosting data in the US datacenter
-
Slido’s support team can manually configure restricted sign-ups for company domains. You can contact support@slido.com as the owner of the license.
-
The meeting or webinar can only be added to Slido by a collaborator within the same Webex organization. The invitation will not be available to collaborators outside of that group.
-
It is not possible to collaborate with cohosts and panelists who are from different organizations.

Hosts and meeting participants launching Slido
Slido requires the following from the person launching it:
-
It requires Microsoft Windows or macOS, version 41.6 or 41.9 of Cisco Webex Meetings or Webex Webinars.
Check the system requirements.
-
If you’re using Windows, you will need Microsoft Edge WebView2.
Before you enable Slido, we recommend your Windows users receive this component.
If Slido is not installed, the first time users use it, it prompts them to do so. This could affect the quality of your meeting if you have to wait several minutes for the download and installation.
-
You can either push 32-bit or 64-bit components depending on your Windows environment.
Attendees
If you are using a Mac or PC, you should use Webex Webinars version 41.9 (or later) or Webex Meetings version 41.6 (or later).
If you are using Windows, you need to install Microsoft Edge WebView2. Ensure Windows users have this component before enabling Slido.
Participation in polls is supported on the following platforms:
-
Windows
-
macOS
-
iOS
-
Android
-
RoomOS
-
Online (web client)
Ensure that the system requirements are met.
Request US data residency
In most cases, Slido accounts, organizations, and associated data are stored in a European datacenter. Getting your Slido data into a US datacenter is as simple as following this procedure.
The US datacenter imposes additional restrictions on data storage.
- Visit https://slido.typeform.com/USserver to complete the form.
To configure your Slido organization in the US, we use the details provided in the form to contact you.
- Users should be informed that their data will be deleted from Europe-based accounts.
If your Slido organization already exists in the European data center, you can skip this step.
- Slido is configured in the US datacenter for your new organization.
- The European datacenter is deleted, including your Slido organizations, accounts, and data.
If your Slido organization already exists in the European data center, you can skip this step.
What to do next
Once we have configured your organization, you must wait for confirmation. Control Hub could create your organization in the European datacenter if you enable the organization before we finish.
Enable Slido integration in Control Hub
Before you begin
-
Slido integration in Control Hub can only be enabled by full administrators.
-
Check the setting for embedded apps to ensure they’re enabled in your organization. They’re usually enabled by default.
- Go to Management > Apps in https://admin.webex.com’s customer view.
- Choose Slido under Apps > Embedded Apps > Public.
You need to grant access to users to use Slide until it appears in your list of embedded apps.
- Choose from the following options under Access:
-
All users—Your entire organization can be integrated.
-
Select groups—For more information on how to create groups in Webex, see the groups tab in Embedded apps in Webex.
You become the owner of a Slido organization when you allow Slido for some or all users. Slido now appears in the list of allowed embedded apps instead of blocked.

What to do next
Slide organizations can be configured.
Configure your Slido organization
You should make these changes to your Slido administration portal. There are several articles related to organization settings that can be found there.
Credentials for Webex.
Before you begin
Create your Slido organization by enabling Slido in the Control Hub.
- Log in to Webex at https://accounts.sli.do/login.
- If you need new administrators, create them. Click the Invite button under the Team tab.
While it’s easier to manage Slido with others, only you are the full administrator and owner.
All team management tasks can be handled by other people when they are granted the Slido administrator role.
In your Slido organization, new users are automatically created by Webex.
Azure AD users can be provisioned from an enterprise setting if you have it enabled.
This article explains how to manage users in your license and the team management features in Slido.
- You can access your Organization settings and billing by clicking the top right corner of your profile.
Under your organization, all events will be governed by these settings.
The following are our recommendations:
-
Update the name of your organization—Here are the steps to follow.
-
Set default privacy settings—Your organization automatically assigns a six-character long password to all Slido events created under your organization. Among the alternatives are:
-
Google SSO
-
SAML SSO
-
Verification via email
-
Events are open to the public
By default, participants in Slido are anonymous by default, but you can change that setting.
It is possible to configure privacy settings for both events and participants. Visit https://community.sli.do/setting-up-a-Slidin-event-82/apply-the-same-settings-for-all-events-457 to learn more about how to set up a Slidein event.
You should not enforce SSO by default if the people attending your Slido events are not within your organization.
-
-
Change the language of your Slido events—Organization settings > Present mode > Language allows you to change the default language to your preferred event language. For all new Slido events, you can use one of Slido’s more than 30 languages as the default.
There is no effect on the participant experience with this setting. There is no support for changing the language of Slide Admin.
Upload your company logo—Slido can be customized by uploading your company logo under Organization settings > Present mode > Account logo. The theme can be changed to match your branding while you’re there.
At the event level, you can further customize your events by adding branding and custom colors.
- Collaboration on your Slido can be enabled for external guests (optional).
Adding guests from outside your organization to Slidos isn’t allowed by default since your organization uses Webex credentials. A member SAML/SSO setting under Organization settings must be enabled by the organization owner in order to allow people outside your organization to collaborate on your Slidos.
- To prevent employees from creating personal accounts on Slido, claim your domain.
By claiming a domain, you can restrict user signups and ensure that the accounts belong to your team. Several domains can be claimed in the same Slido organization.
-
Read this article to learn how to restrict the sign-up process for domains connected to your company (Slido).
-
You can read more about managing your domains in the Webex article, Manage Your Domains.
- The following form can also be used to raise a request for regular deletion of your Slido data if you need it.
Slido is not covered under the data retention policy you’ve developed for your Webex account, so make sure you’re aware of that before you use it.
Manage
Merge users into one Slido organization
In order to complete this task, you will need to verify that your users are already using Slido before you enable it for your Webex organization.
- It would be helpful if you could fill out this form with your account details.
- If you claim the requested domain, Slido will verify your claim and provide you with a list of the Slido users in the requested domain.
- For each of the users on your list, mark their choices with the following:
-
During migration, users and their content will be moved to Slido organizations associated with Webex, so they will be able to access their content.
-
Users who have left your organization should be deleted from Slido along with their content.
-
Not recommended:
-
Please leave users and their content in Slido’s original organization or organizations.
- Let us know at support@slido.com if you would like the list returned.
Configure restricted sign-up for company domains
Using Slido’s sign-up restriction feature, you can prevent people in your company from creating their own individual accounts but rather join your team’s Slido account, so you can keep them from creating their own personal accounts.
Please claim all the domains that you wish to request restricted signup for in Control Hub in order to request restricted signup for multiple domains within the company. When a Slido support representative contacts you to provide assistance, you can send them a screenshot from Control Hub of the domains you have claimed in order to verify that you have claimed them.
Invite users
Once your organization has been configured and enabled, your users can begin to use Slido as part of their Webex meetings as soon as you finish configuring and enabling them:
- We invite all users to visit the slido.com site where they can register for an account with Webex by going there. The Slido integration from Webex can also be used by them to integrate Slido into their meetings.
- Your organization has now been enabled to use Read Slido.
You will find a lot of valuable links in this article that will be useful for you as well as your users.
Troubleshooting Slido integration
User access
No Webex users can see Slido app:
-
Your organization must have Slide enabled in order for it to work.
-
Be sure that you are allowing access to specific domains that are part of Slido through your firewall.
-
If you are experiencing a problem with Webex, please send a problem report.
Upon submitting the problem report, you will receive an email with a tracking ID.
It is important to quote that ID when contacting support@slido.com.
Some hosts can’t find the Apps tab, or can’t find Slido in the apps tab (appHub):
-
You will need to check that your Webex organization has the users you are looking for.
-
The host should make sure that he or she is logged into the meeting site in order to start the meeting.
-
Check to make sure that the affected users are also linked to the meeting site if your meeting site is linked from Site Admin.
-
The Apps button is not supported by the mobile client or the web client.
-
Using Webex, you can report a problem.
A tracking ID for your problem report will be emailed to you.
It is important to quote that ID when contacting support@slido.com.
Slido app does not work as expected for some users:
A security restriction could be preventing the user from accessing Slido as a result of this issue. It appears that the meeting host cannot create or link to a Slido event based on the Slido platform https://community.sli.do/troubleshooting-47/troubleshoot-slido-531
-
Be sure that the host is logged into the site where the meeting is being hosted and that he is connected to the meeting.
If the user is on Windows, check that WebView2 is installed on the machine. If the user goes to the poll page for a long time, he or she will see “Wait for one moment”.
Remove access to Slido
The admin portal of Slido can be used to change user access to Slido at https://admin.sli.do/ in case any changes need to be made to the users’ access. A meeting host who has been authorized by your organization to gain access to Webex can also gain access to Slido directly as long as the host has access to Webex.
- Using the Control Hub’s Management > Apps option, you can disable Slido for your organization and save your changes.
- Choose Slido from the list of Embedded Apps under Apps > Public on the left-hand side.
- In the Access section, you can select No users if you want to block the integration for everyone in your organization.
- By following the instructions on Delete your Slido account, you will be able to remove all Slido content from your Slido organization.
The action taken here is irreversible, and only the owner of the Slido account can perform this action.
Slido FAQ
Can Slido be used with Webex for free? Can Slido be used by customers without having to pay any additional fees?
There is no extra charge for the Slido license that comes with the Webex plans that are paid.
Will the standalone version of Slido be available at no cost to Webex clients?
There will be a full version of Slido available for all paying Webex clients (whether they use the integration to access Webex or use it independently).
What if I already have a Slido account and I want to access the Slido linked to my Webex organization?
As part of your Slido subscription, you will be able to access multiple Slido organizations if you signed up before you started using it in Webex. Similarly, your email address can be used by more than one Slido organization at the same time. There may be different methods of logging in between organizations.
On the sign-in page for Slido, choose Login with Webex if you would like to access Slido as part of your Webex organization. To authenticate your access to Slido, Slido will redirect you through your standard Webex sign-in flow as if you were signing into Webex.
If you have a Webex organization linked to your email address, and you are signed into a different Slido organization, then you can switch organizations in order to get to your Slido organization linked to your Webex account.
To switch from one session to another, please sign in again with the option of Login with Webex.
In the case of Webex for Government, integration with Slideo is not available.
How long is the administrator session timeout, and can I change it?
There is a default timeout of 60 days for each session. When you sign in to https://admin.sli.do, you will be taken to the Organization Settings > Privacy section. From there, you can change this setting.
What roles are available in Slido, and what can they do?
The roles in Slido are ranked from Lowest Privilege to Highest Privilege in order of increasing privilege.
As a Slido Guest, you have the ability to manage Q&A and polls for a Slido event, but do not have access to any other settings within the event or organization. A Slido event can be directly invited to by a guest.
There are a number of privileges that Slido grants to other roles, including:
| Privilege | User | Admin | Owner |
|---|---|---|---|
| Create new event | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Access member events | Yes | Yes | |
| Invite others to the license | Yes | Yes | |
| Update roles | Yes | Yes | |
| Access account settings | Yes | Yes | |
| Assign new owner | Yes | ||
| Manage event features | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Access SSO settings | Yes |
What happens to a user’s events when they leave the company?
-
A Slido user will no longer be able to access users’ events when they are removed from the organization, but the events will automatically be given to the license owner.
-
You can transfer your own Webex events if you are a Slido user, as long as you are within the same Webex organization as other users or admins.
-
Slido admins have the ability to transfer events for other users if they are in charge of them.
Check out http://community.sli.do/organization-settings-and-team-management-64/transfer-event-ownership-542 for more info.
What happens to a user’s analytics when they leave the company?
A link is established between analytics and events. When the analytics data is transferred with the events, as mentioned in the previous answer, the analytics data moves with the events along with them.
Can I use Slido to invite a guest to help me manage the Slido interactions in a Webex meeting?
Yes. Using the Slido interface, you can invite a guest by sending them an email that contains an invitation link. It is recommended that you read this article: https://community.sli.do/use-slido-with-webex-90/add-collaborators-to-help-you-manage-slido-in-webex-1295 to learn more.
Guests from outside your organization are not allowed to be invited to your event.
What happens to Webex cohosts in Slido?
The cohost you nominate during the meeting is not automatically added to Slido’s associated Slido event if he or she is added during the meeting by another cohost. When a cohost opens up Slido via Apps for the meeting, cohosts are able to require access to the app during the meeting.
The cohost can also be invited beforehand as a guest to the Slide event in order to participate in the festivities. Guests from outside your organization are not allowed to be invited as guests.
You can learn more about co-hosting a Webex meeting by reading this article.
How is SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management) provisioning for Slido affected by the integration with Webex?
The integration between the two systems creates Slido users on a per-user basis when the two systems are integrated. Provisioning that happens just-in-time (JIT) is what is known as just-in-time provisioning. In a Slido organization where you have already created users, SCIM cannot be used for creating Slido users as well.
What happens to the existing Webex Q&A and polling features?
The goal is eventually to replace Webex’s existing features with Slido’s features as we enhance the integration between the two solutions.
Can you prevent users from artificially weighting feedback by submitting multiple responses? Ie. Feedback/voting
Yes. There is no limit on the number of votes a participant can cast on the same device from the same browser as part of the basic security options. It is possible for participants to vote more than once if the event is not enabled with further authentication, allowing them to vote from different browsers, devices, or incognito windows. As a solution, you could require SSO for the event in order to resolve this issue.
