Launching Zoom from a web browser
Overview
If you use Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Apple Safari to join or host a meeting, a dialog box will appear to launch Zoom.
You can always open links with Zoom in Firefox and Google Chrome, but not in Safari.
Google Chrome
- Chrome should open.
- Visit join.zoom.us.
- Enter the meeting ID provided by the host/organizer.

- Join the meeting.
- Open Zoom Meetings (PC) or Open Zoom.us (Mac). Each time you launch Zoom through a web browser, you need to click this button.

Mozilla Firefox
- Firefox should open.
- Visit join.zoom.us.
- Type in the meeting ID provided by the host/organizer.

- Then click Join.
- If this is your first time joining from Firefox, you might be asked to open Zoom or the Zoom installer package.
- Check Remember my choice for zoommtg links to skip this step in the future.
- Select Open Link.

Safari
- Safari should open.
- Visit join.zoom.us.
- Sign in with the meeting ID provided by your host/organizer.

- Then click Join.
- Click Allow when you are asked to open zoom.us.

Issues with the Zoom Launcher plug-in
There may be times when the plugins are not enabled, disabled, or incorrectly installed, or correctly installed but not run. Several things can be done to fix it: Make sure the Zoom launcher plugin is enabled (if it’s disabled, re-enable it)
Safari
Most plug-ins are no longer supported by Safari. Zoom must be launched every time.
Internet Explorer
- Internet Explorer does not have a Zoom plugin.
- You will be prompted to run zoom_launcher.exe.
Following are steps you can take if it was enabled but continues to download every time:
- In the task manager, kill all Firefox/Chrome (shadow) instances
- Instances, then restart Firefox/Chrome and delete the zoom launcher plugin
- By clicking on host a meeting from the browser (zoom.us), the plugin should be reloaded
