How do I view someone's profile in Skype?

If you are looking for the profile of someone in your contacts or chats, you can find it there.
When you tap and hold the name of the contact or right click on it, a menu will appear, with the option to View profile selected.

It is also possible to view the profile of a contact from within a chat (or if you use an Android device running Android 4.0.4 – 5.1), by selecting their name at the top of the chat header and clicking on their name.

Tip: Alternatively, if the person’s picture can be found next to the message, you can easily see their profile by selecting the picture next to the message.

How do I view a group profile?

You can choose the group you want to join from your Chats by clicking on it.
On the top of the chat header, you will see a button that will allow you to manage a group directly next to the group name.
Take a look at the profile of the group by scrolling through it.
Return to your group chat by clicking the X or clicking the back arrow on your keyboard.

How do I rename a contact’s profile?

In the profile view, you can select Edit profile from the menu.

Note: If you do not add a contact to the system before you can access the edit button, you will not be able to edit it.
The name of the contact should be changed to a new one.
You can confirm your changes by selecting the check mark or saving the changes button.

Note: Changing someone’s name does not change their name in any way, only how you see it when you edit it.

What else can I do from someone’s Skype profile?

Edit profile: You can add a phone number by selecting the edit button and confirm your changes by clicking the confirm button. A phone number that you add will only be visible to you when you add it.
Send message: In order to send a message to a contact, select Send message from the menu.
Start call: When you click on the Start call option, you will be able to start a voice call with this person.
Start video call: If you would like to initiate a video call with this person, select Start video call.
Start phone call: In order to initiate a phone call with this person, you will need to select the Start phone call option on Skype.
Search in conversation: You can use the Search function within a conversation to look up specific messages within the conversation. It is only available on mobile devices (available only on mobile devices)
Start a private conversation: It is possible to include an additional layer of security by selecting Start a private conversation.
Schedule a call: It is possible to schedule a call between you and your contact by clicking on Schedule a call on the left hand side of the window.
Share contact: In order to share any of your other contacts with your friend’s information, you will need to select Share contact.
Create a new group: Choose the Create a new group option, select the people you want to add to the group from the list, or use the search box to find people to join the group, and then click Done to complete the process.

Translate Conversation

Send translation request: To send a Translation Request to your contact, select the Send translation request button at the bottom of the page.
Translation settings: When you select Translation settings, you will be able to select the language and the voice that you would like to translate in.

Profile

Skype Name: A Skype name is displayed when the contact is selected.
There may be additional information in your contact’s profile if they have made it available.
Add to Favorites: Add to favorites is a toggle that allows you to select whether you want to pin the conversation at the top of the chat list or not.

Chat Gallery

You can view all the images shared with this chat by selecting the Chat Gallery or by clicking on Show more in order to view the entire gallery.

Chat settings: If the following settings need to be changed, select Chat settings:
- Hide Conversation: To hide your chat with a contact, select Hide Conversation from the drop-down menu. (Applicable only to mobile devices)
- Notifications: If you would like to turn on or off notifications for this chat, turn on the toggle.
- Delete Skype Conversation: If you wish to delete your entire conversation with a contact, choose Delete Skype Conversation and then confirm the deletion by selecting Delete.

Delete contact: By clicking the delete button, you will be able to remove this contact from your Skype contact list.

Can people see my Skype profile?

Your Skype profile information and status as a Skype user can be viewed by anyone you choose. The information you enter in your profile can be seen by everyone, but you can leave the fields blank if you do not want the information to show up on your profile.
