Zoom disabling TLS 1.0/1.1 for Cloud Room Connector
For increased data security, Zoom will migrate the Conference Room Connector (CRC) to Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2+ over the next 12 months. Zoom will disable TLS 1.0 and 1.1 as encryption options for all SIP/H.323 devices as part of this migration. SIP/H.323 devices attempting to connect to a meeting that requires device encryption will be affected by this change. Devices managed through API connectors or those that are unmanaged by Zoom will be subject to this requirement.
Zoom delayed the enforcing of this encryption change until August of 2019 for the CRC service, to give customers enough time to prepare their endpoints/devices, including updating firmware.
How does this affect SIP/H.323 endpoints
To join a Zoom meeting, the endpoint must support TLS 1.2 or greater if your account has Require Encryption for 3rd Party Endpoints (H323/SIP) enabled. If encryption is not enabled on the device or TLS 1.1 or 1.0 is not utilized, the endpoint will not be able to join the meeting and will be informed that encryption is required on the room system.
To prepare for this upcoming change, we recommend that customers update or replace all devices that rely on TLS 1.0 and 1.1 as soon as possible.
