How to Transfer a call in Microsoft Teams
Desktop
Team calls can be transferred from one-to-one to teams.
- Within your call controls, you can choose More actions > Transfer when you are on a call and you want to transfer the call.
- If you notice that there are two people on your call, begin typing their names and select them when they appear when you start typing their names.
- Turn on the Ring back if there’s no answer setting on Teams or Skype for Business if the recipient is a member of your organization, so that if they don’t answer, the call is sent back to you.
- Using the dropdown arrow, you can choose from one of the following options to complete the transfer or click Transfer to complete the transfer.
- Make sure the call is transferred to the team member’s number.
- Send it directly to the person’s voicemail box by using the work voicemail
- Any other numbers they have added to their account that they would like to use (such as their mobile number)
Consult then transfer
In order to ensure the safety of your call, you may want to make sure someone is available before transferring it.
- Select More actions > Consult from the menu when you are in a call, and then select Transfer.
- You can search for a specific person to consult by typing in the person’s name in the box under Choose a person to consult and then clicking on their name once you have located it in the list.
- Call them or use the chat function to get in touch with them.
- Click the Transfer button when you are ready to move forward.
Mobile
Team calls can be transferred from one-to-one to teams.
- If you are on a call, you can transfer the call by selecting More actions > Transfer.
- Now that you have chosen Transfer, click on it.
- If you would like to transfer your call to another person, you would need to start typing the name of the person whose phone number you would like to call. To complete the transfer, select them when they appear on the screen.
Consult then transfer
In order to ensure the safety of your call, you may want to make sure someone is available before transferring it.
- You can transfer your call while you are on a call by selecting More actions > Transfer.
- Selecting the Consult option is the first step, followed by the Transfer option will take you to the next step.
- Once you have typed a person’s name, click on a name when it appears to select that person when it appears.
- Call them or use the chat feature to consult with them.
- It is now time to hit the Transfer button when you are ready.
