Live streaming using a custom service in zoom App
Overview
Live streaming of meetings and webinars can be configured by your account administrator. After your webinar begins, you can start streaming with one click if you have configured this before your event.
Alternatively, you can live stream to YouTube Live, Facebook Live, or Facebook Workplace.
Notes:
- Live streaming URLs must be public in order for Zoom to stream to these servers.

Prerequisites
Streaming for meetings
- Pro, Business, Education, or Enterprise account
- The host is Licensed
- Zoom desktop client:
- Windows: version 4.0.29183.0407 or higher
- macOS: version 4.0.29208.0410 or higher
Streaming for webinars
- Pro, Business, Education, or Enterprise account
- The host is assigned a Webinar license
- Zoom desktop client:
- Windows: version 4.0.29183.0407 or higher
- macOS: version 4.0.29208.0410 or higher
Enabling custom live streaming for meetings
Account
You can live stream meetings with a custom live streaming service so that all members of your organization can attend:
- As a Zoom administrator you can edit account settings by logging into the web portal.
- Just select Account Settings under Account Management.
- Find the Allow livestreaming of meetings setting under the Meeting tab in the In Meeting (Advanced) section, confirm that it is enabled, check the Custom Live Streaming Service option, and click Save to save those changes.
- It is also possible to make this setting mandatory for all users in your account by clicking the lock icon, and then confirm the setting by clicking Lock.
- Update the instructions in such a way that the organizer of the meeting can configure the required settings when they schedule the meeting.
Group
Note:
New Zoom accounts created after August 21, 2021; or accounts that are enabled for the New Admin Experience will see the Group Management page renamed to Groups.
Using a custom live-streaming service, all members of a specific group can watch meetings online:
- As an administrator, log in to the Zoom web portal and edit groups.
- Select Groups from the User Management section.
- Hover over a group name and click Edit.
- You will need to find the Allow livestreaming of meetings setting under the “In Meeting (Advanced)” section on the Meetings tab, check that it is enabled, then check the Custom Live Streaming Service option and click Save to save the changes.
Note: - The option will be grayed out if it has been locked at the account level. This will need to be done at the account level in order to change it.
- It is optional for you to make this setting mandatory for all users in this group by clicking on the lock icon and then clicking Lock to confirm the change.
- This can be done by updating the instructions so that the meeting organizer can configure the required settings when he or she schedules the meeting.
User
You can stream your Facebook meetings live by following these steps:
- Zoom’s web portal can be accessed by signing in.
- Select Settings.
- On the Meeting tab, under the In Meeting (Advanced) section, locate the Allow livestreaming of meetings setting, verify it is enabled, check the Custom Live Streaming Service option, and then click Save to save the changes.
Note: - You will need to contact your Zoom administrator if the option is grayed out, as it has been locked either at the group or account level, and you will need to make any changes yourself.
- Update the instructions so that when the meeting organizer is scheduling the meeting, he or she will be able to configure the required settings.
Enabling custom live streaming for webinars
Account
Using a custom live streaming service, all members of your organization can watch webinars:
- Edit the account settings on the Zoom web portal by logging in as an administrator.
- Choose Account Settings from the Account Management menu.
- Locate the Allow Live Streaming of Webinars setting in the Meeting tab under the In Meeting (Advanced) section, check that it is enabled, select Custom Live Streaming Service, and click Save to save the changes.
- Click the lock icon to make this setting mandatory for all users in your account, and then click Lock to confirm the change.
- Providing meeting organizers with the instructions so they can configure the required settings when scheduling the meeting is optional.
Group
The following steps may be taken to enable all members of a specific group to live stream webinars:
- Log in to the Zoom web portal as an administrator with group editing privileges.
- Select Group Management under User Management.
- Select the group you would like to edit.
- Using the Meeting tab under the In Meeting (Advanced) section, locate the option Allow live streaming of webinars, verify that it is enabled, select the Custom Live Streaming Service option, and click Save to save the changes.
Note: - It needs to be changed at the account level if the option is grayed out.
- Click the lock icon and click Lock to confirm the setting if you want this setting to be mandatory for all users in this group.
- The meeting organizer can then configure the required settings when they schedule the meeting (optional).
User
Using a custom live stream service, you can enable live streaming webinars:
- Log in to the Zoom website.
- Select Settings.
- Locate the Live Streaming of Webinars option under the Meeting tab, check that it is enabled, select the Custom Live Streaming Service option, and click Save to save the changes.
Note: - You will have to contact your Zoom administrator if the option is grayed out, since it has been locked at the account or group level.
- (Optional) Update the instructions so that meeting organizers can set up the necessary settings when scheduling the meeting.
Setting up custom live streaming
You can set up custom live streaming for a meeting or webinar by following the steps below:
Meetings
- Log in to Zoom’s web portal.
- Select Meetings.
- You need to enter the necessary information to schedule a meeting by clicking on Schedule a Meeting.
- A set of advanced options will appear when you click Save.
- Then click Configure Custom Streaming Service under the Live Streaming tab.
- The instructions provided by your administrator can be found in the green box. Please contact your administrator if you do not have sufficient information in the instructions, or use Configure live stream to enter details during the meeting.

- You may enable the Custom streaming service requires authentication to broadcast if the live streaming service requires authentication. Usernames and passwords for this service will be required during the meeting.
- Save your live streaming settings by clicking Save.
The host won’t need to add these settings after the meeting starts in order to live stream this meeting.
Webinars
- You can log in to Zoom by using your email address and password.
- Select Webinars.
- Enter the necessary information and click Schedule a Webinar.
- A menu with advanced options will appear after clicking Schedule.
- Under the Live Streaming section of the More tab, click Configure Custom Streaming Service.
- You can find your administrator’s instructions in the green box. If the instructions do not contain enough information, contact your administrator, or use the Configure live stream feature during the meeting to enter the details live.

- Enable the Custom streaming service requires authentication to broadcast if the live streaming service requires authentication. This service will ask for a username and a password during the webinar.
- Save your settings by clicking Save.
The host will not have to add these settings after the webinar begins in order to live stream the webinar.
Starting the custom live stream during a meeting or webinar
You can live stream your meeting or webinar to a custom platform by following these steps:
- As the host, begin the meeting/webinar by doing one of the following:
- You can access the meeting/webinar from your calendar by clicking the link displayed on the calendar reminder.
- Using Zoom – Sign in to Zoom, find the meeting or webinar in the Meetings or Webinars section, and click Start.
- On the host control page, click More.

- Select Custom Live Stream Service.
- In the case where the organizer has configured this webinar for live custom streaming, a browser window appears that shows the progress as Zoom

- prepares to broadcast the webinar live.
- You must enter the values provided in the instructions if the webinar organizer has not set up this webinar for live custom streaming.

- Authentication will be required if the custom live stream requires it. For this reason, you will be prompted for a username and password.
